I do agree that it could have used more development. But I will forever say that, despite the fact that Michael gave up everything he’d ever longed to find once he found Maria . . . she doesn’t owe it to him to stay with him. And I’m not saying that’s what anyone here is arguing, but . . . I don’t know. It’s just hard for me to hear “But look at everything he did for her.”

You've put your fingers on a very real problem in tv series. I don't forget that one of the producers, Frake, said that M&M were the funny part of Roswell (or Something close). There was a golden opportunity to write them together, happy AND discovering what it meant to be a couple, and to have funny adventures. There was enough drama with Max and Liz and the sheriff. There wasn't any need to add more.

But that was written for Isabel and Jesse (minus the fun part, except for the IMAA episode). A couple that nobody was invested in.

Balance was needed, IMO. And the writers just took M&M and Maria in the wrong direction. Because as you said, they just don't know how to come up with creative ideas for happy couples on tv.

Ugh! I still don't get it, nobody cared about them and they were always in our faces. They should have developped Isabel/Kyle instead.

^ agree, and not shoehorn some drama into M&M's relationship as an afterthought. Sorry, that's just how it felt to me when I first watched it It didn't feel like I was watching something natural (don't get me wrong, I like angst and all that but I just didn't love the feeling this left me with).

btw I still really enjoyed season 3 as a whole!

What is it with tv lately? The shows I Don't want rebooted get a reboot, and the actual shows that I watch are cancelled? Lucifer, now probably Timeless ! That's so unfair. Honestly, it makes me mad that the american producers and networks sell their series all over the world for us to get addicted to but only take in consideration the americans's audience when it's time to renew them!

I have a little something to share : I belong to a book club and I buy a book once every two months. I received their catalogue this week and one novel looked fun so I went to the bookstore to buy it. It was available next month so I ordered it. When the woman in charge ordered it, she named the book then the author and I was startled : "Who???"

I hadn't noticed the author, just the summary of the novel. It was written by Melinda Metz . Yep, unless there is another Melinda Metz out there, it's OUR Melinda Metz, the one who created our candy couple. I didn't even know that apart from Roswell High, her books had been translated in french!

I understand what you mean April and I don't think it's fair to compare what they each did for the other, either But I still think Maria's way of "finding herself" in Season 3 was dealt with badly. They pinpointed Michael as the thing holding her back from her dreams, which is completely unfair - let's remember that he's the one who gave Maria her shining moment on stage in VIVA LAS VEGAS, one of the most cherished Candy moments, and for Maria to turn around in BEHIND THE MUSIC and say "This girl you've known, it's not the me I used to be"... What kind of writing is that?

I just think they could have written the break-up in a better way that didn't retcon Maria's character in the process, that's all.

About the book by Melinda Metz, it's the story of Jane, a woman in her early 30's, who moves in in LA and meets a neighbor, a young widow. She doesn't want to live a love story but her cat, MacGyver (yes, you read correctly ) doesn't agree with her and does what he can to get the two humans together.

I liked that type of hairstyle for Maria. Or MD, whatever. I liked almost all of Maria's hairstyles, although I wasn't too fond of the ones she wore in the pilot. The one I really didn't like was the straight Brown hair one, in season 3.
