I don't know if this has been previously asked, but who among the readers have read the actual Infinity War comic book series. The movie resembles the Infinity Gauntlet, which involved Thanos actually having the gauntlet, but The Infinity War of the comic book series does not have Thanos as the villain. It is the discarded aspect of Adam Warlock, called 'The Magus,' who is the 'villain' in the series.
Does it appear that Disney simply decided, based on the first Avengers movie, to make Thanos the primary menace as a 'continuity-from-the-original-movie' viewpoint, because otherwise, this is a completely different movie, not The Infinity War.

I've not read the comics myself so perhaps someone else can answer this better than me, but I think they have deliberately made differences between the world created in the movies, and the world from the comics. The comics are there for inspiration and ideas in the storytelling, but I think they wanted it to not be the exact same story, if that makes sense?

It's clear why they used the title Infinity War rather than Infinity Gauntlet. It's just much simpler, more obvious easier to understand. It works better for a title for a movie aimed mostly at people who haven't read the comics.

As for the comics, I avoided all that Infinity garbage back in the '90s. It seemed like just an excuse for shallow extravaganza and for Jim Starlin to wank off and Ron Lim to turn in more sub-par two-dimensional artwork.

He drives me up the bloody wall. For one thing he's so not the comic boook character I grew up with. But also, that squeaky voice and overly childlike personality and wimpy manner would be annoying in any character.
