^ Yup and it really helped that she really was the one who didn't know him much so everything about him was new and at the moment.

That's true, & I think he needed that. He was a completely different person than who he used to be, so I think he wanted to be around someone who he had a clean slate with

Yup and Fred was that one who didn't have ties to his past, she strictly knew the Spike with a soul so she was going on what she was seeing in front of her eyes.

But I think that Gunn was a little standoffish with him at first - he's never the quickest to accept vampires - so I don't think Spike would have wanted to approach him. I'm sure he clicked with Lorne pretty well early on, because Lorne accepts everyone, but I'm sure it didn't Spike long to figure out that Lorne wasn't exactly the one to go for whe you want help with physics & things like that

If you know Gunn's history than you know Gunn and Spike automatically bonding would've made zero sense. Over time, yes! but automatically no way.

Lorne accepts everyone but don't see him spending most of his time helping Spike.

That is why Fred doing what she did made sense... and obviously she had the skill and knowledge.

Yeah, it was her skill & knowledge balanced with her openness to him that made Spike go to her & click with her first

I think that Spike definitely sensed from Gunn that he wasn't going to just accept him early on, but it didn't take too long to get over that - I love when Spike hugs him when he becomes corporeal again
