Lulled in to a false sense of security by cuteness and innocence and a bit of cheese, with no idea what lay ahead. ;)

Every year I do a Buffy (and Angel) rewatch. I just finished with season 1. Sometimes I forget how much I love this show. Sure the music was super cheesy and some effects were just plain bad. But Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best TV show in the history of TV shows. What other show can have dummy demon hunters in one episode and the other episode a love interest who was a mass murderer and another episode has a sixteen year old girl dying to save the world?

My favourite episode of the season is "Prophecy Girl". Runner-up is "Angel" and third best episode is "Nightmares".

My least favourite episode is "I Robot, You Jane". That episode is probably the worst episode in Buffy. I honestly can't think of a worse episode than that one. "Where the wild things are" comes close but at least there are some funny moments in WtWTA.

I'm rather fond of Season 1, despite many disliking it  I've always enjoyed it, especially considering that at this point, the show isn't taking itself too seriously, which I felt was a big problem in Season 7

Season one is my favorite season after season two. I love the introduction to the characters and how the show was just finding its footing. A lot of people don't like the cheesy Monster of the Week episodes, but I quite enjoy them.

That is why I love this season as well. It's my third favourite season. It's like the writers was in on the joke with us. It was funny when it needed to be funny and serious when it needed to be serious. The only exception was "I Robot, You Jane". And I loved the why how they explained nobody ever mentioning the weird stuff that goes on in Sunnydale; "People tend to rationalize what they can and forget what they cannot.". One sentence. Perfect.

And Giles was the hottest father figure ever. Seriously. Even with the glasses and the suits.

That's Sunnydale for ya :lmao:

I love how cute Willow was in S1  :sigh: So cute

Totally agree. I think you need to have watched the entire series a few times to truly appreciate the positive aspects of S1 however. I really enjoy the first season and find myself watching it quite often. I agree with the earlier comment about Prophecy Girl being the strongest episode, and I'd probably also put Angel second, simply for the start of the backstory on a character who'd go on to become so important. We just won't speak of I Robot, You Jane, though it tickles me that the quote at the end about all their love lives being doomed proved to be dead on.

I actually enjoy every episode of S1  Including "I Robot, You Jane"

A true Buffy fan :)

As much as I love everything about Buffy, there are a few episodes that are just plain bad. I still watch them though.

Charmed Slayer Angel 01-05-2015 11:50 AM

That's me  Season 7 is another story entirely :lmao:

Same. Sometimes the episodes you think are bad grow on you. I used to see so much hate for "Where The Wild Things Are" and "Beer Bad", and I honestly don't mind them. They aren't great, but they're entertaining to watch

tender looks 01-06-2015 12:07 PM

I still don't like WTWTA, but I really enjoy Beer Bad now to be honest.

kabous 01-06-2015 12:45 PM

Beer Bad is all sorts of awesome. "Foamy!"
