Buffy sticking up for Tara in Family was Tara's complete acceptance in to the group, that moment in The Body was the beginning of the trust and friendship that would develop in season 6 IMO.

I get all the feels when Tara's dad says "We're blood kin, what are you?" and Buffy steps up with a don't dare cross me look and says certainly "We're family."
The look on Tara's face was beautiful. And again it was BtVS showing that your family doesn't have to be blood relatives, it can be whomever you chose, wherever you're loved and understood and accepted. That's real family. |

 I feel like that was definitely the turning point for Tara feeling accepted into the group. Before that, I could understand why she would feel like an outsider, but after 'Family', there was no doubt she was one of the Scooby family __________________

I thought that the real proof that she & Buffy were really close was when in Dead Things she went to Tara for help & broke down in her arms something we almost never saw in the series.

I agree there . That was very heart warming to see how all of them even Spike stood up for her . That showed that Buffy as well as everyone cared for Tara .
