I like Eli, I really do enjoy his character a lot. But I just do not want them to force story lines with him just to keep him on the show What is he going to try now? to make Alicia stay with Peter?

oh no he's not. But the character was never meant to be stay long. And we all know what happens when they keep characters on longer than they should because they want the actor to stay and that was my point.
Let's be fair, half of Eli's scenes this season were neither interesting nor essential to the rest of the show and they only accomplished one thing: taking time away from Alicia and the firm.

The fact he's now at the firm could help but maybe if he was supposed to be in half the episodes, like Peter, not in every single one. It's bound to become forced.

There is plenty more to explore his character. So...

Is there, really? They didn't seem to find enough to explore through this season
I'll leave them the benefit of the doubt but I'm not anticipating this.

Maybe you're right. Besides, I think it's always best when you have regular guests, with a defined purpose, and not just to put them in front of the camera, regardless of the reason for their presence.
The quality of their acting will eventually be overtaken by the excess of unjustified exposure.

Seriously, both of those two scenes were perfect. I will never be able to watch the D/W/A scene [especially diane's lines] again without laughing
