De rien

I thought I'd recycle the title since I didn't see it was so close to 300 when I changed the other. I'm decidedly uncreative tonight. I wanted to make some photomanips with the characters and Halloween costumes but I'm too drunk I think.

Yay, I get an extra zumba class in this week (my gym doesn't offer it on Fridays anymore -- just M, Tu, and W now -- but I'm going to help someone enter contacts in Constant Contact on Friday for a kickstarter campaign and so we're meeting earlier so I can be a guest at her zumba class!).

Um, you missed me going to Michigan and working ridiculously long hours on a web series. And that's just October! (With some babysitting thrown in, which meant I had get up early to get kids ready for school a couple days. I'm so not ready to be a parent, I must say!)

Gosh, how long has it been? You might have missed me having a boyfriend for about two months and then our failed attempts at staying "just friends" for a few months after that. (One month, we didn't talk at all. And now we haven't talked since before starting on the web series, so probably since the 13th of October? It's for the best though, I think. I always had a preference for women and don't know why I thought this guy was any different.)

You missed me having two holiday retail interviews. (One didn't go so hot, the other with the place I had holiday retail with last year. Neither had an offer on the spot, but the latter said they would keep my application on file if something came up. I had interviewed with them a week later last year, so maybe it's just timing. But while I miss some people at that job, the ex does work there, too, so I dunno.) You haven't missed my third holiday retail interview since that's happening on Monday. I had a really outgoing talk with the person from HR today, so hopefully that will give me an edge.

You missed me relearning how to drive. You haven't missed me going for my 5-hour prelicensing course (I'm hopeful I'll finally do that on Saturday!), so no license yet.

You missed me not getting hit with Sandy. (Thank gosh.)

You missed me going to Toronto for the film festival in September where one of the movies I worked on last summer premiered! I also saw another movie at the festival and was absolutely thrilled to realise I know someone from the crew.

Gosh, you've missed so much. I have to finish syncing and labelling footage for a feature in the next few days. Here's the trailer.

Oh my God!!! You did more stuff in one month than me in a whole life seriously! I'm so thrilled for all your projects! I remember you told me about a movie, was it that one that premiered I guess?

It's never too late to re-learn driving, I know someone who did it at 38

As for the boyfriend, you are getting me in a moment when all I can say is: go on with your preference for women! My consideration for men right now is at its lowest.

As for me, this year is going through ups (few) and downs (way too many).

Only two ups: first one, my little kid seems to be finally over his growth block and made his honorable appearance in the official growth charts He's constantly checked but I can start to relax that he's healthy, only little for his age.
Second one, dad had his cancer removed completely in June. He's under chemo now and thank God he seems to be reacting good. It's far from being over, docs already said that it will very likely return, but we are trying to see the bright side: he's still here! We had an unbelievable luck, under the circumstances!

What else? Oh! Talk about movie projects, the guy who beta reads my TGW fanfictions wrote me last week that he's working as script writer for a tv show! Can't remember the title, it had something to do with ghosts but I found it so exciting! I was like, wow, my beta is famous lol.

Michigan was Oct 3 to Oct 9 (took the train, so it was at least half a day to get there and back: left home in the evening of the 3rd to arrive in Michigan morning of the 4th, left Michigan in the evening of the 8th to arrive home afternoon of the 9th), filming of web series was Oct 16 to Oct 29. (We technically have one day left due to our postponement of the outdoor shoot because of Sandy worries.) Babysitting was Oct 14 to Oct 17. First couple days, I was at a hotel with the kids' mum who was working there temporarily (I basically was there to keep the kids occupied while she worked: her husband had a business trip out of town, so someone had to keep an eye on the kids), but with weather turning sour on the Monday, she decided we should go back home so the kids wouldn't miss any more school. It worked out well for me because it meant I could give a tutorial on media management to a PA while the kids were in school on Tuesday (first day of filming for the web series). It is not good practice to drag and drop RED files -- do with it ShotPut Pro. Much safer.

I worked on two different movies last summer, one as an unpaid PA and the other as an unpaid intern. The one in Toronto was the one I interned on. Bigger budget, bigger stars. (Which means I have a lower position, naturally.) Though the other one screened locally in the middle of the filming for the web series so I missed that day of filming (screening of the feature was south of where I live and filming was north of where I live... so Mom said pick one, I can't bring you to both and so I did the screening because I had already purchased tickets... it was just as well as I missed that day because damn they were working long hours that day, 6pm to at least noon the next day is what I heard -- and I didn't get my computer back from the PA until about 2pm).

So I don't know which one you're thinking of, lol. (Next week, I'm hoping to go down to NYC for the premiere screening of a short film I edited, but we will see given the Sandy situation. That's yet another project from last summer, lol.)

Yeah, I'm trying to find women to date, but damn is it hard! I meet some online, don't ever hear from them again after we meet in RL. Have some possible friends, but we'll see. I went to an Autostraddle meetup the day I missed the web series filming after Mom dropped me off at home. That was ok, clubs and drinking aren't really my thing though. I had to miss the other Autostraddle meetup, a brunch in the park, because of a last minute scheduling for a holiday retail interview. (The one that didn't go so hot.) Would have liked to meet the other 3 girls and see how two of the girls that went to the Autostraddle meetup from the week before interacted since they were making out at the gay club towards the end of the night given they weren't an established couple when I met them. (Autostraddle is a site for news, entertainment, opinion, and girl-on-girl culture in case you didn't know!)

I'm happy for your ups! Very good news and I hope that continues!

And that's so cool about your beta writer! American show?

What a crazy schedule!!! I could never survive it! I can't remember either which was the project, since all I can remember is that you were unpaid lol! But I think it must be really exciting to finally see the result of all these projects! You are really putting a lot of efforts in them!

I bet it's not easy to find women to date Even harder if you are not the clubs kind because it really reduces the chance of meetings to online meetings and I guess it's not the best situation. Most of time, the idea we make of someone online is completely different from what we meet in reality. I didn't know about Autostraddle's site. It's good to have an easy way to meet people with your preference. The downside, as I said, you can never know what happens when you meet in RL...

The show is American, yes, it's shooting in Beverly Hills.

Every once in a while, I get a moment to think and wonder how I did it all. That's when I remember I'm awesome. (Though it would be even more awesome if I got more paid gigs. So far, just one day on a sports documentary has paid. That and me working as an independent video consultant for a church that wants to put sermons on public access TV, so I'm teaching them how to use a professional video camera and editing software.)

It definitely is exciting to see the end product! And part of why I want to work in post production because that's where it all starts coming together.

Ain't that the truth. I can be rather bubbly online, but most of the time when I first meet someone, I'm totally shy and withdrawn until I'm comfortable with the person, which probably doesn't send the greatest impression. I can sometimes be an oversharer though, which might be just as bad. LOL. Oh me. I have my good qualities and I have my bad ones.

Cool. Nothing's really poppin for me though, haha.
