Elektra's death in DD S2 was upsetting and a slither of hope from Matt knowing that she's alive was all he needed to let himself know that at least he could do something this time around to save her.

I keep thinking when was the time he decided that he'll die in that building with her? Was it when Colleen told them about the plan? Or was it when he was actually down there and he felt her presence?

my guess is that he was always ready to make that sacrifice but I do believe that he'd intended to make it out with her

he wanted to convince her after all, but he was probably almost sure that it wouldn't work

they're just..one of a kind. Matt knows that he means as much to Elektra as she does to him so only he could really convince her about anything

Exactly. So I also understand why the others think he's crazy but they don't know how much history these two shared. Matt & Elektra knew each other from waaaaay back and the Defenders are new friends for him.

sure, I don't blame the others if they hadn't ever experienced anything like Matt/Elektra have. they wouldn't know. we're biased because we've seen all they'd been through
