So, at the recommendation of some people here, I watched the first episode of Revenge.....Yuck!
Sorry, but not for me. A bunch of rich people partying in an alternate reality? The writing is so...not good. And it looks like a soap opera. It's kind of like the exact opposite of Everwood. And Brothers and Sisters I thought was...a little better than that, but still not very good. I just don't care about the characters very much. Rich people who live in L.A. Stuff dealing with the family business. Let's talk finding your way in a new town, getting to know your family, trying to sustain relationships, etc. But yeah, these shows...they aren't my bag. Maybe Everwood and PO5 spoiled me. I just think those shows are SIGNIFICANTLY better. I mean, it's always nice to see Emily VanCamp. But even Emily can't save a poor script with a subject so based in a reality I will never understand. I only gave Revenge 1 episode, true. But I gave Brothers and Sisters 6 and I felt like it was too much wasted time. So, yeah. Anymore recommendations? Are there any shows from the last 5 years about regular people just trying to get by? No gimmicks or frills? Just people talking? I know, I know. I may have an unusual taste....but 20 years ago it wasn't so unusual! Thanks for all suggestions and thoughts. I'm hard to please, but always willing to try things! Hope you guys are well. Happy summer. It's more than half way through already!! Jeremy |

Check out this post I made recommending Treat's show to Barry and in my post I describe why it's so good along with linking you to a site too: http://www.fanforum.com/94278715-post65.html Here's also a link to the very page so you can read the posts around it: http://www.fanforum.com/f104/treat-w...l#post94278715 A bunch of us from the board watch this show and we're all in agreement that it is very Everwood-like... even has an Ephram/Amy type of pairing, and Treat stars in it. Honestly, it is the closest to Everwood I've encountered. |

Shark Week So Far
I'm loving it. I said up thread, I was either a Marine Biologist or eaten by a shark in a past life, which is why I am so enthralled by sharks. That said, it's gotten a bit too reality TV for me. Every night celebrities are featured... Shaq, Rodgers, Vonn, Gronk, Rousey ... I don't know... I don't really care about their experiences in the water with sharks. I enjoy the traditional, deep research documentaries on sharks... scientific research, and watching professional divers/shark experts diving and existing without cages even (incredible) with tigers, whites, bulls, tracking how wicked fast a mako shark is, stuff like that. I don't care about celebrities having first experiences with sharks. Go away, Hollywood. I want the scientific study/research only. So I'm skipping the "Hollywood aspect" and just watching the research-related moments only. Thankfully, we're still getting plenty of this. |
