She got the part in 2018, so she must be around 19 now. Yes...she has personality plus.

So obviously back then she got the part because she was beautiful and an excellent actress.

Another difference with the remake is that the Latino characters are actually played by latinos whereas the title characters of the original were not expect for Rita Moreno who is also in the remake. A part was written for her.

I love the original movie but after watching Steven Spielberg's version, I was mesmerized. I don't usually go for remakes of 'classics' but it was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The cinematography, the costumes, the choreography, the voices and the the actors - so well cast. The addition of Rita Moreno cemented it all. Absolute masterpiece. Emotionally charged throughout and tears flowing at the end. I loved, loved, loved it!!!

^ I start feeling sadness with 30 minutes left of the original so I don't know how I am going to react during the 2021 version!

This movie is an emotional roller coaster for Empaths.

I feel every emotion from start to finish and the end...

The movie is dark from start to finish when you think about it. But yes, a masterpiece, 1961 and it seems 2021 might be every better!
