Because I was concerned things are going too slow. And the slower they go, the more issues you will have. Hopefully with this new specialist, things will speed up.

So so. Started the day well. No sore throat, just congestion. However now I have some low grade fever. Hopefully it does not last long.

Luckily not high. Just on the verge. It was 98.8 F. I managed to lower it down within 3-4 hours. Today I feel good so I have not even checked it. Yesterday I checked it because I felt a bit off and even more tired than usual so felt there might be some low grade fever.

Maybe that was the moment where the viral load was at its peak, so your temperature ever so slightly elevated, and then went back down as the load was lessening and lessening.

Could be the case. Time will tell. I do hope that I do not get the long lasting cough but we will see.

Thatā€™s happened with me before where my temperature will oddly go up higher than itā€™s been and then I feel better the next day. But typically if Iā€™m going to get a fever, I already have one. It just peaks when the infection has the viral load high and then as it goes down the fever drops because you donā€™t need any extra warrior white blood cells to fight anymore.

Iā€™ve had years of listening to my scientist sister.

You are coughing right now?

I donā€™t but as I think I got the same virus my mother got, I kind of have an idea for the symptoms and how it goes. For her it started with sore throat that continued 5-6 days, then congestion, once the congestion was over, then she started having wet cough that continued for 2-3 weeks. So I hope I skip this part or if I have it, it is shorter but we will see.

Mhm . So to monitor and see. So far I feel overall OK but we will see, you never know. For my mother the cough started when the congestion was over. I still have slight congestion.

Today the weather was nice so I decided to go out in the morning. The idea was to do some walking and then some running but more like jogging and a short one as I am still sick. I have not run this week as expected. Well I walked 6.15 km with not bad speed - almost my usual one. Then I started running. I took my first km for 6:32 so overall not bad, though a bit high for jogging for me. My second one was for 6:12 km which is above my speed for my best 5KM time. Third was 5:56. At this point I was like ā€œOh I can beat my best 5Km time, letā€™s run 5 KMā€. Well I did. It was a progressive run, each km was faster than the previous one, I even pushed myself the last 300-400 meters and not only improved my 5K time, I achieved my goal of getting sub 30 5K . My new best 5K time is 29 minutes and 59 minutes. Man I wish everyone was doing that when they are sick . Thatā€™s the kind of sickness I think all of us can take.

Thanks! My next running goal was indeed to manage to run 5KM under 30 minutes so thatā€™s good. I started workout plan for this maybe 6 weeks ago. Though last week I could not do any of the plan as I was sick . Still it seems the plan is helping a bit as my speed has improved. I am currently doing 3 runs a week. Wednesday is an interval session/speed work where I ran short distances with speed of 5:50-5:30 per km. Saturday I am supposed to do an easy run but somehow I always manage to make it progressive run where my first km is the slowest one. And Sunday it is my long run. The most I have ran was 9 km. It was supposed to be 10 but I was not sure I will be able to handle that. Will see how this week would go. From what I read both speed work and long running sessions (endurance) are supposed to help with improving speed and thus decrease running time for distance. For now it seems to be working.

Yesterday I did a lot of things I have read about and they worked out well:

1. I started slower so that I wonā€™t injure myself
2. Did progressive run where I improved my speed with every kilometer
3. Pushed myself even harder in the last 300/400 meters to ensure better time

Most of my long runs include finishing with faster speed than starting so I am training for that as well and it seems it helps.

Wonderful! šŸ¤©šŸ¤©

Very similar to how I worked out for fitness back when I played sports (especially pushing harder those last moments).

Where are you running at your parents?

Makes sense. I assume speed work is very key for soccer players. Btw what was your position? Was it midfield or I remember it wrong? Either way being able to sprint in soccer is like key. Though endurance is as well as you guys have to run 90 minutes and thatā€™s a lot. And there is no saying how much of that is speeding up and full on sprinting.

I will share a video with you with some photos I took on the path where I do my morning walks and runs . It will be in our shared album. Basically there is a rather big river near the village and there is a path around the river there. There is also a small lake. So on one side is the river on the other the lake . It is more like a trail run path than the typical asphalt path I do in the park where I live. That might have helped me as well as this path I am using here is harder than the one in the park and doing speed work on it is a bit more challenging.
