It was tough to answer the question about who owned it. It was owned by the storekeeper...Harold stole it.....but he eventually owned it after Andy put it on his tab. So......how should I have answered that question???

Oh, as long as we're asking questions, what do we do if there's not really a clear answer to the question? I...can't think of an example right now, but actually I think I'm asking the same question as Betty, just more generally.

You had the right answer -- implying that it was tough to tell who owned it was probably a better clue than saying "It belonged to Harold" or "to Andy" would have been. Especially with the way our minds have been [not] working the last day or so, hee.
As for 'Tos's question...if it's really unclear, you can just admit that and let it serve as a hint. Like what Betty did here. There probably aren't that many objects/scenes/characters that would cause a problem, anyway, but when it does arise, you can either do that, suggest that the other players ask the question in a different way, or phrase your answer in such a way that avoids the ambiguity (like my responding to questions about who wore one object that was never actually worn by saying "the object appeared in S2" or whatever). __________________
