That’s what happened with Andie and that guy at the psychiatric facility, yet Pacey couldn’t forgive her. The Pacey of Season Two would have understood and forgiven Andie. I’ll never understand why they ruined such a wonderful couple, all to create the triangle from hell that divided the fanbase and destroyed everything good about the show.

All that was done to make Pacey and Joey a viable couple. Anyone who really under stood the show would have realized that Andie was incapable of cheating on Pacey.
But I do agree with two lonely people after a few drinks hooking up. It's happened to me and the next morning we agreed while it was great; it could never happen again.
When they decided to hook up Pacey and Joey, Andie had to be destroyed, or no one would believe it. KW wrote one of the best romances in TV history. (I may be biased) You're right the Pacey of season two would have understood.
What a lot of people forget is that Andie never had to tell Pacey and he never would have known, but she was an honest girl who did not want to hide things from Pacey.
Something else most people don't understand; is that Joey was the rebound girl
