I almost think without realizing, PJ wanted Dawson pouting, throwing more fits so they could use him as an excuse to split up. They couldn't use him as a reason to get away from each other.

Got it.

It is fun imagining both Pacey and Joey having to deal with Dawson and Andie though, lol.

I don't think Pacey and Joey were capable of dealing with Dawson and Andie. They didn't have the self confidence. Also deep down both of them realized they were in a bogus relationship.

Look how Joey reacted when she saw Dason and Gretchen kissing. Imagine if she and Pacey caught Dawson and Andie kissing.

They'd be fur and feathers flying all over the place.

Big time. :D

Honestly, I would have loved seeing it. Could have had an episode with Dawson/Andie hanging out, drinking a bit, having some fun, then getting lost in a kiss just long enough for Pacey/Joey to witness it. The next day Dawson and Andie could talk and realize it was two lonely people just wanting some comfort and agree to remain friends like always. The damage would have been done since Pacey/Joey would have needed therapy.

That’s something key: The phrase two lonely people seeking comfort and then realizing it was a mistake. That’s what happened with Andie and that guy at the psychiatric facility, yet Pacey couldn’t forgive her. The Pacey of Season Two would have understood and forgiven Andie. I’ll never understand why they ruined such a wonderful couple, all to create the triangle from hell that divided the fanbase and destroyed everything good about the show.

All that was done to make Pacey and Joey a viable couple. Anyone who really under stood the show would have realized that Andie was incapable of cheating on Pacey.

But I do agree with two lonely people after a few drinks hooking up. It's happened to me and the next morning we agreed while it was great; it could never happen again.

When they decided to hook up Pacey and Joey, Andie had to be destroyed, or no one would believe it. KW wrote one of the best romances in TV history. (I may be biased) You're right the Pacey of season two would have understood.

What a lot of people forget is that Andie never had to tell Pacey and he never would have known, but she was an honest girl who did not want to hide things from Pacey.

Something else most people don't understand; is that Joey was the rebound girl

I don’t understand it either. He absolutely would have forgiven her, the real Pacey. He understood her mental illness, he supported her every step of the way. But his reaction was absolutely ridiculous. He had every right to be hurt initially. Every right. But he understood the situation and the real Pacey wouldn’t have held it against her without finding it in his heart to forgive with understanding. He loved her with all his heart and soul. To see him act all cold was a joke. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Literally, all of season two meant nothing and was ignored.

Yet Joey was emotionally and romantically connected to Dawson from the moment they got home at the end of summer. She lied continuously and deceived throughout her entire relationship with Pacey. He knew it too and was dumb enough to take it. What Joey did to him was 10 times worse. Now he is stuck with her. He received a prison sentence.

That is exactly what the new writers wanted.

Indeed. They wanted to erase quality and what actually defined this show. They succeeded. I had never witnessed this before, past or present... writers/new showrunner literally wanting to erase substance/quality in favor of way lower quality and a stripped identity... just to make it their own. It's unreal. If you look at Stupin's work post-Dawson's Creek it's nothing special. No shock there.

A bit of DC trivia.

The famous crying scene put on by James Van Der Beek was adlibed by JVB and was not in the script.

jediwands 04-04-2019 08:00 AM

I wish it never would have happened. It gave most of the PJ fans and/or Dawson/James haters so much fuel over the years. I still see that GIF all over the place in present day.

You're right, maybe he should have stuck to the script. But what idiot director left it in.

The people who make fun of that scene are in my opinion self centered and shallow. They can not grasp deep feelings and emotion.

The PJ fans were so cruel after that episode aired. They ripped Dawson & James to shreds (since many had difficulty separating character from actor). It was so immature and repulsive.
