I know it was green screened but I really believed they were on their own island together.

And it basically foreshadows the series finale.

I loved that Sydney kept thinking of Vaughn in the episode where she gave birth. And that Jack is so happy that her main thought is Vaughn.

(Jack never used to trust Vaughn especially when Lauren was an issue, so it speaks volumes that he ultimately did believe in the Sydney/Vaughn relationship in spite of everything.)

true. but it was also a heightened version of reality (Syd's dream when she was hallucinating + drugged up) so the bright colors of the island were appropriate for that.

A lot of people criticize season 5 (and rightly so in the shocking lack of Vaughn scenes) but honestly, I much preferred it to seasons 3 and 4. Vaughn became unbearable when Lauren manipulated him against Sydney. He finally acted like himself again in the latter half of season 4 and beyond.

I really love season 3 for Sydney's character arc (her despair and utter confusion explored) but it really sucked on the Vaughn/Lauren side of things.

Also, the time frame in which he got engaged to her seemed way too fast. It reminds me of the film Pearl Harbor in which Ben Affleck is only assumed dead for 3 months before Kate Beckinsale starts a relationship with his best friend.
