The remnants of Gustav are stalling out over us this week I didn't realize eastern OK/western AR was in the direct line of the tropical depression as it's now called. I thought I lived far enough inland not to ever had to worry about a hurricane We're just supposed to get tons of rain as it just sorta stays on top of us for three days

The remnants of Gustav are stalled over us right now. It's sure dropped a lot of rain. In fact, the creek flooded I live on a dead-end dirt road and the only way to reach my house is across that creek. I left work early when Sis called to tell me the creek was starting to flood. However, by the time I got home, the creek was too far over the road for me to cross. I waited an hour and a half until my cousin's husband came home. He was able to get across in his big van, so I hitched a ride

And first thing this morning, little Spit scared me to death this morning. He got his hind leg all tangled up in the rattan slats on an old table I have (it's missing the class) and was writhing and dangling upside down from the table when I found him. I had been drying my hair and didn't hear his cries until I turned the dryer off. It sounded like a cat fight! I really thought the poor baby had broken his leg or dislocated his hip the way the leg was contorted and stuck in the table. And I didn't know how long he'd been hanging there. 15 minutes at the most, but he was yowling and thrashing about.

I tried to free his leg, but couldn't so I called Sis. But before she got here, I was able to get his leg free. The poor baby was still doing his growl/meow and wouldn't put weight on the leg, so we got him to the vet. (We called ahead of time and when we arrived, all the vet techs were lined up waiting for him The adore the little baby and could tell how worried we were)

Thankfully, the vet said he didn't break anything or dislocate anything. In fact, by the time he was at the vet's, he let the vet poke around on him without even meowing.... The vet said his hip was swollen already... probably just bruised and maybe torn. So he got a shot for pain and swelling and said little Spit would be okay but really sore tomorrow. The shot was supposed to help some even for tomorrow.

I will stay home with the baby tomorrow. I couldn't miss teaching my classes, so I snuck in just to teach the classes (and mom and Sis and sis's hubby all checked on Spit the four hours ... well, ended up being five and half because I had to wait on the creek to subside) though.

He sure hasn't wanted to leave my side this afternoon, though. He even napped on the bed with me for an hour and a half. And when I go into the kitchen to get a drink or snack, he follows me

Thanks and no, I haven't. Health Services at my school is open from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday and I didn't have enough time to do it on Thursday because of my internship and I usually don't get back to campus in time and on Friday, I have a class at another college in town from 10 to 2. Since I don't have a car, I walk. And I think I left my school around 9am and didn't get back until 4pm because I wanted to finish my math homework before coming back to my school. If I'm still under the weather, I'll see them on Monday morning.

In happier news, I finally finished watching the season 4 Bones premiere
