Andie was destroyed to make Pacey and Joey even remotely believable. Compare season 2 to season 4. Pacey was happy with Andie, and miserable with Joey.
Promicide was meant to end the Pacey / Joey relationship forever, but we get the most screwed up ending in TV history. Joey comes into town and goes to a boy she has had nothing to do with for 7 years except for a one night stand. Then promptly dumps him for Eddie, telling Pacey she doesn't feel it, but she goes to Pacey; "I choose you" Pacey drops his whole life and goes off to NYC with her. Up till the last minute the series was supposed to end Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Andie, which why Meredith Monroe was called to come back for the final. |
