Yes, for the most part it was pretty good, but it would have been nice to have occasional references to past events.

And Martin, I agree, but I guess it's getting pretty complicated keeping in mind all the aspects that should or could in the future be of importance... and planning ahead and going through with it may not be their strong suit... there is no other explanation for Chakotay and Seven and yes, I know this is more something for the J/C thread which is why my rant will end now
Totally agree with you there Kia.

I'm sure someone will chastise me roundly for this, but I was fine with Chakotay/Seven.

To me, it just came totally out of the blue. Especially after there had been so much tension between Chakotay and Janeway over the years. Personally, I prefer to forget the C/7 scenes in the last few episodes.

While I can see how the male brain might be inclined to be enthusiastic about it, you have to admit that they didn't do a very good job telling this story and building a foundation for this nasty and heinous backstabbing plotline attack

Wasn't "poor Kathryn" already married? Or did I hallucinate that part?

She was engaged. I think his name was Mark.

Me too. Although there's that slight issue about him being a hologram. Still, the characters had a lot of chemistry together.

Yeah, you're right, you hallucinated
Oh come on, he was back in the Alpha quadrant... 70 years away as far as they knew AND he broke up with her when they had communication via that communcation network that belonged to the Hirogen... She stayed faithful and kept her hands off Chakotay while he married someone else...
So yes, poor Kathryn!

See, if I were tossed 70 years across the cosmos, I would be just as obliged to be true to my Snugglebunny as if I were just across the planet. Granted, part of that's my religion talking (I have no doubt that after I died, I'd get to explain any deviation from that obligation to her in detail ). I still don't see her as much "poor Kathryn" as I do "good for her." I feel worse for her beau cutting her loose than I do for her being faithful.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be faithful, just that I feel sorry for her being all alone in the end. After having been dumped she was single for a big part of the journey but being captain 24/7 always came first.
But the fact that her crew was always more important than any personal matters, that getting home was a priority she never strayed from is very much in character. So in that sense the writers did right by her.

Agree with that. Commitment is more than just a word.

Very true. A good captain will put that first.

I agree. It was in character for her, and it's one of things I always liked about her.
