Couples You Dislike #270 because they just don't work
► No bashing real life people or other shippers
► No baiting and no defending ► NEW RULE: No individual character bashing Clarification of Rule #3: If you're listing a couple you dislike such as character/character - and then you write about them and why you don't like them, it's okay to include your dislike for a specific character....but not ONLY that character. Your post should not consist solely of character hate. If you're covering up specific character hate unrelated to what that character does within his or her ship, you'll be asked to edit your post. "Character/Life", "Character/Existence" and variations thereupon are simply not allowed. ----------- PREVIOUS THREAD __________________

Haven't explained any in a while, so - Spencer/Wren - Last season just summed it up. The second he heard Spencer had broken up with her boyfriend and was mentally in a bad place, he was there, ready to take advantage of her vulnerability. You don't take advantage of someone you're supposed to care about. It just seems to me that he's not thinking about her and what she needs, he's only thinking about him. Hanna/Wren - Second teenage girl he's gone for. Implies that it's not a certain girl he wants, it's a teenager. He didn't seem to care about the fact that she's in love with someone else. Hanna/Lucas - Honestly, they could have been great. He was right, she did deserve better than Sean, and Lucas would have treated her right, I don't doubt that. His feelings were always one sided though, and, although there were moments where he might have thought he had a chance, she never really led him on. I feel like if Hanna were to ever give it a chance, she would never really be fully in it, and I think they both deserve better than having to settle for that. Emily/Maya - Once again, could have been great, and initially was, but after Maya came back, she seemed to have a complete disregard for Emily's feelings. A complete lack of respect for all of the things that make Emily who she is, like her loyalty to her friends and family, whom Maya just expected her to leave behind to run away with her. She put Emily in difficult positions all the time, with her mother when she was outright rude to her, with the drugs when Emily found out she was still using, with the running away. Maya took advantage of Emily's feelings for her, just expecting Emily to jump when she wanted something, and when Emily refused, she ran off. Aria/Ezra - There's so much wrong with them I don't know where to start. I don't doubt that they love each other, but they don't seem to make each other happy any more, and Ezra doesn't seem to understand that Aria is a teenage girl, and as a result, will behave as such. He can't just storm into a school to confront his teenage girlfriend about how she's behaving like a teenage girl. Ezra did the right thing with his child, there's no doubt about that, but what he doesn't seem to get, is that just because he is ready to be a parent, that doesn't mean Aria is. He can't expect his girlfriend to just jump into this stepmother role at the age of seventeen, that's unreasonable. Regardless of that, my main issue isn't actually about how they treat each other, it's about how they are written. They're so disconnected to all of the other characters that it's like they're in their own spin off when they're together. Most of their storyline is pointless filler, and it's really boring. This relationship takes Aria away from the main action of the show. If they HAVE to be together (because we all know they will be), can they at least be given something interesting? Jackson/Lexie - She didn't love him. He was basically just her settling for less than she wanted because she thought he was safe. She was only with him because she was scared of being with the person she really wanted to be with. He knew this, and he let her use him. George/Izzie - There is no better example of ruining a perfectly good friendship out of some need to create unecessary drama. It was like the writers failed to understand the concept of a man and a woman being friends and no more. Mark/Callie - Sometimes I doubt that she even saw him as a person, because he was basically a toy to her that she could play with whenever she didn't have anyone else. He initially accepted it because that was who he was, but when he tried to change, to grow up, she tried to stop him. Owen/Cristina - From what I saw when I was still watching, he had no respect for who Cristina was as a person, and spent a lot of their relationship trying to change her. He never really made an effort to get to know the real her. Phoebe/Cole - Cole wasn't Cole when he was with Phoebe. He was someone that she created. An ideal that she wanted him to be as opposed to who he was. She refused to accept who he was, and instead focused on trying to change that, even though a lot of what he was was instinctual due to what he was. Rory/All of Rory's boyfriends - Not one of them was right for her, and that's okay, it was very realistic. So many shows are obsessed with having teenagers find their true love before they're even eighteen, and I LOVE that Gilmore Girls didn't do that with Rory. Gilmore Girls showed with her what most shows tend to avoid - that women don't need a significant other in their lives. That they can be independent. |

Love Triangles/Existence No good has ever come out of a storyline with love triangles in them. Absolutely none.
