Yup, sometimes you can have an impact in such a short amount of time.

I guess that scene can be compared to the Steve/Diana romance in Wonder Woman movie,
they didn't spend a whole lot of moments together but the moments they did share was so important that the impact of his death truly touched her.
Did you watch both? Just asking to know which one you preferred if you did.
Oh wow, I didn't even think of that, but the analogy works together very well, and it was probably unintentional on the part of WW, but very well done.

I have seen both, but I'm going to be honest, it has been so many years that I'm not sure which is which anymore.

^ It does work well together because Steve is the love of Diana's life and we already know about Superman/Lois.... the pain of losing each other gotta just be painful... especially for people like Diana and Clark who probably didn't think they would find that kind of love...

I re-watched a lot so I'm very clear on which one is which and I probably prefer the theater version because it's the one I sort of grew up on before I knew about the backstage craziness and that it even existed.

I know people prefer the Donner cut though...

That makes my heart hurt.

I should do a rewatch at some point. My father would definitely like to also!

What backstage stuff?

Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) & Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor) was so disgusted about the treatment that they both spoke out on it and of course that's the reason why there are TWO versions of Superman II.... Richard Donner was like 85% finished with the film before he was fired... and than they filmed a whole different version...... some scenes are the same but overall the movies are so different.

Also because of that, the movie franchise got ruined because it was suppose to be 5 movies. And than it went down to 4 because it did back in the theaters and than they switched who they were working with. It was all a mess.

Lois Lane role got cut to a limited role for Superman 3 because Margot was not happy and that's WHY Lana Lang got casted for Superman 3. And Gene Hackman as Lex wasn't even in it.

Superman 3 got so much criticism... (understandably so) that it felt like it was the end of the Superman films but than Cannon Films brought the films. Huge mistake because it was low budget and everything. However, the main thing they did was get Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman back but it was way too late and the end of the franchise....

So, basically a lot of backstage issue ruined everything.

Wow, that is a lot of drama. It also reminds me of some things that have happened with the DCEU. Thanks for the information. I never looked into any of that since it was way past my time.

Replied on THIS THREAD
because the same exact thing happened for the Tim Burton films...

DC just has some bad luck when it comes to the franchise movies. lol

Just saw a promo after the Twilight Zone that there will be a Superman movie marathon this Saturday starting at 12 pm EST, to countdown for Krypton's premiere on SyFy.
