Only 2 years.

Although at the time they met it was huge because she was 14 and he was 16. Just felt it was all about timing... like if they met at a later time like college, it wouldn't have mattered. They start going to the same school in season 9.

Same age different for Martin/Ruthie and Tyler/Mackenzie ironically. lol

I can never understand why this is huge

they're both Teenagers.. so.. I don't know.. sometimes believe it's an American Thing.. here nobody would give a damn.

I sort of understand it, depending on what the age is but yeah in Martin and Ruthie situation, I didn't understand it, especially in season 9.
At least in season 8, I understood it because Martin was brought into the show as a High Schooler and he was dating a High School girl, and Ruthie was dating Peter, her first real boyfriend. And she was in Private Junior High.

So, of course Martin & Ruthie popular definitely was a shock. lol
However, no need to blame the viewers, the way Season 9 started, it totally seemed to be Ruthie/Martin all the way since they finally were attending the same school and both were single.

Also, ironically I love that Ruthie is the first person who Martin shares a scene with on the show, meant to be or what? lol

No you didn't. I'm telling you if you ever wanted to, I seriously would watch some of his episodes with you. lol
I think it's on Hulu streaming. And of course I have all the seasons on DVD. lol So, I re-watch like crazy. lol One of the shows I binge watch the most of.

At least watch his first episode for you can see a little bit of his character.

I'm just fortunate to have watched a lot of his episodes live.

they're the two couples that had my heart in that show

they were perfect, i was rooting for them from day 1 even though at that time it felt kinda weird because of the age difference but they always had a special bond!

I always feel weird when I “ship” like 12 year olds or early teenagers.

They shouldn’t even be thinking about relationships at their age, and yet, I want them together.

But when they have chemistry, or that “special bond”, like you said, your shipper heart can’t help it.

This must have been from one of the last seasons because Ruthie/Mackenzie looks so grown up!

i miss them so much. I also loved the actress so much, she went from a child to a teenager in the show and it was incredible to see her grow up
