ESPN.com, Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan "Pudge'' Rodriguez were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday, while Vladimir Guerrero and Trevor Hoffman fell short just of the 75 percent threshold required in voting by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Bagwell drew 86.2 percent and Raines got 86 percent. Rodriguez had 76 percent -- he received four more votes than the necessary 332 of 442 (75 percent). Hoffman was five votes shy and Guerrero 15 short. Bagwell, Raines and Rodriguez get Hall of Fame call; Bonds, Clemens gain Jeff Bagwell,Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez are going to Cooperstown, and some of baseball's most controversial stars could follow. What else did we learn? Barry Bonds (53.8 percent) and Roger Clemens (54.1 percent) continued to gain ground in the voting, but also fell short of election. Clemens received 45.2 percent of the vote a year ago, while Bonds polled 44.3 percent. Curt Schilling got 45 percent (199 votes). Today's Game Era candidates, John Schuerholz and Allan H. "Bud" Selig were elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, Dec. 4, becoming members 313 and 314 of the Cooperstown shrine. They join Bagwell, Raines and Rodriguez as the Class of 2017, to be inducted July 30 in Cooperstown as part of the July 28-31 Hall of Fame Weekend. The Weekend festivities will also feature the presentation of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award to Claire Smith for writers and the presentation of the Ford C. Frick Award to Bill King for broadcasting excellence. This year's ballot marks only the seventh time since 1955 that the Hall welcomed a new class of three members or more. But it's happened three times in the past four years.
