I was thinking about that the other day when I was working on my true love meta, trying to piece together from dialogue in the show and put together a time frame of when they could have known each other. But there's conflicting scenarios that pop up in my head.

Regina knew him during her Evil Queen days, but Zelena knows him too and we know Regina and Regina didn't have any interaction with each other until 3B, post her Evil Queen days.

Could be that Zelena knows him from another context than his time with Regina - or Zelena just spied on her sister, as we know from the musical episode that she did do.
