Hey everyone

In the last few weeks Mél and I had a lot of thoughts on how to increase our post counts a little.
And tonight I had the idea that a tiny step to getting there may be the re-customization of the Opening Posts of our various appreciation threads and other important threads.
Many of them don't have anything nice in them at all and a lot of the others havn't been changed in ages. And I thought that nice looking Threads would maybe make our board more inviting for newbies, lurkers and users that were once regulars on this board.

And now I want to know your opinion. What do you think about this?
When answering to this, please try to answer the following questions, it makes it easier for me to sort all your ideas out in the end

What do you think about the idea in general?
What Thread/Threads need (re-)custumization in your opinion?
What would you want to have changed or added to their OPs?
Anything in those OPs that you definitely want to keep in them?

Oh, cool idea Jule! I don't really have time to think about this right now lol or to answer well to the questions you asked, but I will just say that I think the main threads that really need to have stuff done in their OPs are the 'actors/characters' ones, I think all of them don't really have stuff in the OP, like pics, banners and stuff.. so that would be cool if the threads on our amazing cast all have nice OP

I'm gonna answer the questions myself, too:

Well, I definitely like the idea, because it's mine
I think that all the importnat threads should be worked on. That means shipper Threads and actor/actress threads, as well as the topped Threads.
There is definitely some stuff to keep in the already customized OPs (like Joanas Season Banners in the RnR OP) but I kinda want to standardzie the OPs a little... I don't really know whot to explain that

Hello dear Friends posters

I'm not a regular poster on this board - in fact, I don't even lurk - but I've agreed to help with the potential customization, so I wanted to share some ideas with you all. Feel free to criticize and ask questions.

First of all, I think it would be nice if all OPs were structured alike. I think it gives everyone a more homey feeling when every OP is in the same order. At least it does for me.

What's also in Jule's and my mind (yes, we share a brain) is this: Twilight Board Guide.
Of course, the OPs shall not look like the Twilight thread guide, but what they have are individual headlines for each part of their OP. This can be done in Friends style here as well.

Also, season moments - as the ones you can see on the Ross and Rachel OP - are always something great in opening posts and it'd be lovely if every OP had these.

And this brings me to the last part, the OPs that should be (re-)customized. I agree with Mél here. The actor/character threads could surely use a makeover as well as the couple/friendship threads. If you want a certain thread OP to be (re-)done, please post it here.

Again, if you don't like any of these ideas, just say so. We're doing this for you and the board after all.

Jule I think that this is a great idea!
I think that the couple/friendship appreciation threads should def. be changed.
But i think that other threads we have such as What episode did you watch today don't really need OPs
I think we should keep Joana's seasons in the RnR thread they are so great!

while I was looking through all the OPs to make notes for the cutomizations... it was kinda the first time I saw the Dessert Stealers OP (don't know why I've never seen that one before)...

I've gotta say, that OP is really pretty and maybe we could adjust all the other OPs to that one... color wise and with the small banners for "supporter" and so on...

any thoughts on that?

I don't post here either. though I'd like too, Friends is one of my most favorite shows ever.

I'd love to help though. IA the actors/characters & couples/friendships should be top priority. these are the things that I think make for a good opening, just my personal opinions...

+ fonts that are not the standard font. I think they look really good with Georgia.
+ a color theme. not a bunch of random colors put together, but a few different colors used for text/banners/etc.
+ pictures for "shippers", or at least no stars.
+ switches from left to right after certain things like fans, reasons, etc. also, I think it look even better if you indent everything from both side.
+ quotes, paragraphs from fans, or song lyrics in between side switches.
+ shipper list, reasons, songs, fics, moments, history, videos, links, previous threads
+ misplaced text... not everything straight & centered. sometimes work's perfect done in a art program with the background taken from the board's background. example of what I'm talking about HERE.
+ for a couples thread, a little story at the top of the thing about who they are, what they did, etc.
+ ^^ text small, with underlines, bolds, seperations, and bigger words. example HERE.
+ history, storyboards. I love when a thread has paragraphs [usually from each season] about what happened between them, but more personal and fanlike, not just "Rachel opened the door and kissed Ross." more fic-like. "Realizing what she wanted, Rachel ran to the door, finally opened it, and kissed Ross more passionately than she'd ever kissed before." it's just cute, even cuter with pictures along the way. again, Nathan/Haley thread. and you can get their fans involved by having each fan pick a moment/season/etc to write theirs about.

I think that's pretty much all I can think of. obviously everything doesn't have to be in one thread, that's just stuff I like. here's another of my fave threads, besides the ones I posted.
