I mean, usually when an author is a big seller they put them under contract for a series or trilogy. And The Host was made into a movie.

So who knows? Maybe it didn’t sell as well so the sequel was canceled?

Though by now I am over it. I don’t need a sequel. I’d have to reread the first book and I don’t feel compelled to. I wasn’t that big a fan of The Host anyway.

I don't think the film did as well as they'd hoped, so sometimes contracts get amended.

I can see that happening, but really the movie shouldn't effect the book contracts. Because if the book was a best seller that should dictate if there is a sequel, not the movie box office sales.
