I'll possibly share the line art later this evening, because that might give me more of an incentive to finish the whole thing. :3 I doubt it'd squick any non-shippers out, fortunately, cuz it's mostly just Jackie holding Eric from behind, and Eric going "Ummm?" o-o LoL

It's funny, cuz I never considered their relationship either way, but there definitely could've been something (whether it be genuine friendship/love/sibling rivalry) thanks to her getting close to Red. That could've easily sparked jealousy/resentment/a potential bonding scenario, so Idky they never went there. I'm currently on "A New Hope" in my rewatch, so that's why the whole career day ep is still fresh in my mind.

I've only seen one shipper on Tumblr, and her URL is landsmanwashere. She also ships one of my rarepairs from another fandom, so it just seemed like a major, "Wow, what are the odds?" moment. She doesn't happen to be here, does she?

That sounds like a realistic reaction from Eric. The next drawing in the series could be Jackie's arms springing off him, and her going, "Who made me touch him? Ew! Now I'm all Eric-y."

Personally, I don't see any romantic/sexual chemistry between Jackie and Eric whatsoever. In fact, the idea of them together sexually nauseates me. But I think Eric and Donna were, ultimately, always planned to be endgame, so Eric couldn't get into a serious relationship with anyone else. Donna's relationship with Casey was, in large part, to remind her what she had/has with Eric is real.

Ooh, I totally disagree. Eric just tends to treat Jackie as disrespectfully as he does his sister. Jackie is a monogamist who's consistently shown to need an emotional connection to someone in order to be sexual with them. She's generous and insightful (in between her bouts of egoism) and generally a good person, whose need to control comes from feeling so out of control.

Laurie, on the other hand, has little interest in monogamy and enjoys sex for sex's sake. She purposely pursues people she knows are in relationships with other women and enjoys messing up those relationships. Before S5, she's depicted as generally selfish and malicious. Her treatment of Jackie in S2 and S3 is atrocious.

So, no. Jackie and Laurie are nothing alike, imo. Except that Eric has an antagonistic relationship with both of them, and they both had sex with Kelso.

Oh, blerg. That's a shame.

This is the first I've heard of her. So I think it's a safe bet she doesn't post on this board.

LOL That's a perfect Jackie reaction, tbh. I do really like Eric and Donna (but then, as I've already said, I like everyone lol), so I was glad they were endgame. Though I rarely ship canon (this is the one fandom that's the exception to the rule), so my mind always tends to drift to potential "what if?" couples.

I didn't really mean they were the same person, so much as pointing to that episode where Jackie and Laurie were chumming it up/realizing they had a lot in common. The ep basically seemed to suggest they could've been friends, had Kelso not been a dog (and Laurie not been Laurie lol). When you just watch one episode, Jackie seems very superficial, but if you watch the whole way through, she's definitely got a side to her that flies under the radar. I don't think most people realize she has a good heart. She did good things for Donna long before Donna said they were friends.

Oh, well darn! Maybe I'll have to direct her to the board. I've never actually spoken to her, so much as admired her blog from afar, so I was hoping she might be here. That sounded creepier than I meant it to.

LoL Well part of the fun in shipping (or at least, it is for me) is the disgust/adversity phase, so hopefully! It's a shame that most of the enthused people in this thread seem to have gone their separate ways. Though I can't blame them. Interests can't stick around forever! Though every now and then, I get super nostalgic and return to ships I had years ago. I think my first ship (before I even knew what shipping was), was back in 2001. I was like in 6th grade, and all I knew was I really wanted these two cartoon characters to kiss. lol

It's not interesting, so much as painful. It gets very lonely on my Rarepair Shipper Island. lol

I invited her, so hopefully the message goes through! Tumblr's kind of hit or miss with that. :/

When I looked on both FFN and AO3 (bless AO3 for giving me some variety these days ), I noticed all the E/J fic seemed to be written by the same person, which is why I was surprised to find multiple people shipping it in this thread. I mean, there are a lot of fics by this person, but it's also just one person, so that's why I assumed it was basically just her.

Haha yeah, I have the same reaction sometimes tbh, even though there's that internet rule (can't remember which number it is) that says if you can dream it, it exists. So basically, whatever pairing you can think of, it's bound to have a shipper/fic/art/etc. I remember Red saying the gang all switched partners more than square dancers, and that's basically how shipping works in most fandoms.

Oh gosh, I'd turned in my laptop to get it fixed (I'm on my work computer atm), so I'd forgotten to look! I left her the link in the comment bubble part on her page, so maybe she'll join. ^^ And that's true, whoops! I was very confused with the navigation on here until recently lol, so I guess I could've been more descriptive.

Maybe that IS the rule I'm thinking of, whoops! But it still seems to apply, more or less, because if you dig hard enough, you can find other shippers. I find most people are quiet because they're too "ashamed" or nervous to admit they're a shipper. I've been that way before. I only start yapping when I know I'm in friendly company.

Thanks! It's fortunately just an easy fix. My docking port was loose, and apparently a plastic part fell out, so that sucks. But I'm so close to getting it back! *grabby hands*

Believe me, I've made that mistake already.

I don't really blame people for hiding (I do until I know I'm in friendly company), because people can be nasty. So far, T7S seems to be a very chill environment though, so I'm digging that. ^^ Idk if it's because it's such an old show, or what, but I haven't seen any squabbles, aside from mild complaints about certain ships. It hasn't been geared toward the shippers themselves, particularly.

It's back now, so all's well in the world! Except for the fact he kept upping the price after quoting me. *shakes fist*

I think because the show is done. When the show originally aired, Eric/Donna shippers and Jackie/Hyde shippers didn't tend to get along on this board. It was weird. A portion of E/D shippers were annoyed by the attention/love J/H got by fans and the show, and a portion of J/H shippers would talk about how boring they thought E/D are as a couple, etc.

Wow, this board has been open that long? I had no idea FF was even around back then, so that shows how much I know! That's so weird though. I mean, typically the shippers that clash are the ones that are in direct "competition" of one another. So I could understand Jackie/Kelso and Jackie/Hyde shippers getting into squabbles more than those two. :/ I get how it can feel like you're "left behind" when the entire fandom seems more obsessed with something you're not, but the ships are so different that I'm surprised that was an issue. :/ Fortunately, I like them both, so I win.

Yeah, we're heading into our seventeenth year. I haven't been part of this board nearly that long, though. I just read through all the posts before I became a mod. (A little , I know, but I found a lot of great info about T7S and the fandom.)

I know. It was strange. J/K vs. J/H rarely happened. Usually it was one or two very passionate Ashton Kutcher fans who couldn't separate AK from Kelso, and, therefore, rationalized all the horrible things Kelso did to Jackie and vilified Hyde.

It's funny, because I thought this fandom would be dead (I mean, my current fandom is, and the show only ended last year), yet it's already gotten a decent amount of support. So now I'm like, "Oh great...I guess now I HAVE to finish it." Though whenever I was selecting the ship on AO3, I was disturbed since the first suggestion was Jackie Burkart/Red Forman. I'm not the type to ship shame, but....yikes.

Wow, well congrats on the board! And I don't think it's crazy! Whenever I'm obsessed with/enjoy something, I love to know as much as I possibly can. Though some people take it to the extreme. Like, one review I got gave a looooong-ass paragraph explaining how it's canon that Eric's skilled at fighting (which I was already aware of), but to assume every fan knows EVERY little fact given about each character in this VERY long show is ridiculous. Besides, they spelled Eric's name wrong, so it was kind of hard for me to take them seriously. Especially since they completely missed the point of why he lost the fight to begin with, but oh well, ya can't win 'em all.

Ohhh, noooo. I get how it can be difficult sometimes, because whenever we love a celeb, we automatically look at all their characters through rose-tinted glasses. I know I do. But I at the very least know when the character's a piece of you-know-what, lol. Kelso makes me laugh, but...he's pretty awful to women. :/ I think it's easier to forgive since it's a comedy/light-hearted, because laughter is a quick way to many people's hearts. I know it is to mine. That's why I can enjoy K/J scenes despite the fact they're...well, I don't think I have to explain it. :S But either way, all the ships are very different, and that's what makes them enjoyable to me. It's better than the same old, same old soap opera types.
