They aren't officially a couple, but Lost's Sawyer and Kate generate a ton of heat with their spark-filled love/hate attitudes. This unbeatable romantic tension will have to be addressed sooner or later — the island isn't that big. And after the thieving Kate gave the tortured troublemaker one of the hottest kisses of all time, another may send an S.O.S. to Sawyer's heart.

Excerpt from an Evangeline Lilly interview in Lost magazine:
"I try to analyze the situation as realistically as possible and I can only see Kate and Sawyer growing closer from what's happened. If Sawyer gets back to the island, they should have a new sense of value in each other. They say if you love something, let it go, and then see what happens from there. Not only did they break physically, but they really broke ties emotionally before they left. You see them both gazing out across the beach before they left, looking for each other, so they clearly play a significant part in each other's lives. After a heated conversation, one of the two walks off and Kate shoots her Lover Boy a longing look (i.e. her thoughts are something along the lines of 'I love you,' 'I want to jump you,' 'Let's ditch this island and go get it on in a motel.')

Sawyer Calls Kate 'Freckles' - 1 Drink
It's self explanatory. Take another sip if he gives one of those cute smirks after he says it.

Kate Breaks Up a Fight Between Sawyer and Someone Else - 2 drinks
Kate tries to break up a fight between Sawyer and someone else and does so while remaining calm, cool, and collected. Half a sip more if it's Sayid.

Sawyer Makes an 'Obscene' Comment and Kate Pretends to be Offended - 1 drink

Susana, that list is great, but it was originally posted by Leah Kate on Lost-Forum, so perhaps we should ask her permission first, and it also makes a comparison between Skate and Jate, and it could be considered as "bashing" the other ship, I don't know... We could just use the parts regarding Skate, though.

Hey, someone (that's it, Duffy in TF) posted a few possibilites of where Sawyer and Kate storylines could go from now on . She did some good points. What do you guys think?

I'm keen of #2 and #4 options.

Doc Jensen at EW has proposed the idea that Sawyer and Kate, as the two murderers in paradise, represent Adam and Eve - the original sinners who fell from grace in the garden of Eden. Juliet being a fertility doctor. Bunnies! Sun's mysterious pregnancy. The lack of children and theft of the Tail children. Both Kate and Sawyer's flashbacks focussing on their fertility. And now they have had decidedly unprotected sex. After being injected with something after being captured. It fits with what we've seen, and the short timeline of the story means we'd never have to actually see Kate incapacitated by pregnancy. It's not a theme I want to see, but realistically, it's possible.

3. The Betrayal option. They've established that Sawyer is hopelessly in love for the first time in his entire loveless life. This is a powerful development for his character. Should Kate deceive him or betray him or should he even think, perhaps incorrectly, that she has, he could become angry and alienated from the group. Depending on where the story is at the time this might happen, this could set Sawyer down a tragic path. It's probably not a shipper's preferred option, but given the central importance of Sawyer to the story, it would most likely swing back around towards a heroic denouement, with love overcoming anger in the end. Sawyer is too human, too much the flawed anti-hero that the audience sees itself in, for them to leave him as any kind of villain. They've had that option and dismissed it. But it could be a detour for the character. Another possibility to consider.

4. The Bonnie and Clyde option. There is no greater entertainment value on this show than Sawyer and Kate in action mode. The scene in LTDA where Kate lets Jack pass, since she knows he doesn't trust her or respect her judgment, and lets Sawyer - her partner and confidante - join her in attacking the Others was pretty much the only photo they used to promote Lost over the summer. I think it's an extremely strong possibility that Kate and Sawyer were brought together because they are (as Kate herself said) the best team on the Island. If the show wants to return to popcorn munching action mode, they may have decided to use Kate and Sawyer's chemistry - which exists on so many levels beyond their sensuality - for just its vibrant entertainment value alone. And that would be an excellent choice, and probably the most likely one.

Susana, thanks for bringing that interesting post here.

It was good to read, because usually I focus on what Sawyer and Kate can rapresent and do for each other, but I spend little time thinking about the purpose of their relationship in the main story. I guess that puts me into the third option somehow.
The second option is the one I like the least, but it's also the more possible. I can't stop thinking that both their latest FBs (just during the process of bringing them together as a couple) had pregnancy/babies references in them. I hope we won't see something like that on the show (Sun, Claire, Ana... that's enough), but children seem to have a very big part in the Others' storyline, so who knows...
I would've never thought about option #1 and Sawyer and Kate as Adam and Eve, it's intriguing and related to the redemption theme, the core of Lost.

I can't just pick the parts of the Duffy's post that are the best for SKate I think all of it is possible.

I think jaq also dealt with fertility issues with Sarah and Sun/Jin had their problems . Claire has no problem with that.
