Growing Pains Appreciation #13 - Baby, rain or shine, all the time

Summary
The show's premise is based around the fictional Seaver family, who reside on Long Island, New York. Dr. Jason Seaver (Alan Thicke), a psychiatrist, works from home because his wife, Maggie Malone (Joanna Kerns), has gone back to work as a reporter. Jason has to take care of the kids: troublemaker Mike (Kirk Cameron), honors student Carol (Tracey Gold), and rambunctious Ben (Jeremy Miller). From 1988 on, Chrissy Seaver became a part of the family. She was played in her infant stage by twins Kristen and Kelsey Dohring (who alternated in the role). Beginning in the fall of 1990, Chrissy's character's age was advanced to six years old, whereupon Ashley Johnson took over the role. The show was relevant in the mid-1980s, as women going to work was becoming more and more common, as were stay-at-home dads.

Thanks for the thread. Great titled!

Favorite season?

You suggested the title.

I like so many of the seasons. I guess except the last season. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't the best.

Yeah, the last season wasn't my favorite either but it was still enjoyable. There was just a vibe about it that was off. You had Leo added to the mix (not that I minded his character) and Tracey was gone for a lot of it.

Tracey Gold is 49 today.

And he left during that season. I'm glad he wasn't in the end.

Wow, Carol Seaver is almost 50!

Me too. I remember hearing that they had him exit before the last few episodes because they knew it was going to be ending and they just wanted it to be the family.

That makes sense.

I always liked the look of the show. It was very warm and inviting. The look of the house on it's corner. The fact that they lived on 15 Robin Hood Lane was just too perfect. When it was fall time, you could see leaves on the driveway set and can see the right kind of hue out in the sky. There was just a real homey feel and look to it.

It was a real 80s home. Nice details

I remember it was kind of weird because the set was used the follow season for the pilot episode of "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper". I don't know why. Maybe the set for that show wasn't done yet or something and they used the GP one. I believe Alan Thicke even appeared in the opening as a joke.

He sure did. He picked up the family photo or something. It was left behind.

That's right! He then just stood there for a few seconds before finally saying, "Well, I should probably go." Lol.

It was funny but sad.

Do you remember this episode? I can't remember whose group of friends it was, but there were a few over at the house and one of them was a girl. She kept dropping hints the whole time she was there until she finally came to Jason. i think she was being abused at home or something.
