Growing Pains Appreciation #4 - As Long as We Got Eachother!

The Growing Pains Appreciation Thread

The show's premise is based around the fictional Seaver family, who reside on Long Island, New York. Dr. Jason Seaver (Alan Thicke), a psychiatrist, works from home because his wife, Maggie Malone (Joanna Kerns), has gone back to work as a reporter. Jason has to take care of the kids: troublemaker Mike (Kirk Cameron), honors student Carol (Tracey Gold), and rambunctious Ben (Jeremy Miller). From 1988 on, Chrissy Seaver became a part of the family. She was played in her infant stage by twins Kristen and Kelsey Dohring (who alternated in the role). Beginning in the fall of 1990, Chrissy's character's age was advanced to six years old, whereupon Ashley Johnson took over the role. The show was relevant in the mid-1980s, as women going to work was becoming more and more common, as were stay-at-home dads.

Alright! Thread #4! Bring on that season 2 DVD! I love the early years when Mike was still in high school. Even though I didn't particularly care for high school, I love those years on TV. Lol.

Me too! I used to laugh at some of the silly teachers.

I never had silly teachers. They were either old or young and serious.

I keep wanting to call Principal DeWitt, 'Principal Gorpley', since he was Larry and Balki's boss Mr. Gorpley on "Perfect Strangers" too. Lol.

Same. I always had old teachers. Most of my teachers were near the age of retirement. You could tell they were anxious.

I don't remember that. lol

I liked when the principal got on the intercom and said for these students to come to the principal's office and, at the end, would say "And, no surprise, Mike Seaver". Lol.

It's kinda funny how Mike was painted as some troublemaker or getting into mischief and whatnot, but Jason and Maggie had it relatively easy with Mike. Lol. Compared to other kids, they don't know how good they had it!

Just how other kids, not necessarily on TV, can and have get into more serious stuff and trouble. Mike was kind of tame compared to them.

Glad you got season 1, Amy! Now you have to get season 2! Lol. Out this month.

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah, Mike got into trouble, but he wasn't doing drugs or stealing cars.

Glad you weren't confused by my typo since I typed was instead of wasn't.

Mike was funny even if he did get into trouble.
