Will and Alicia [played by Juliana Margulies] are very close and went to Georgetown Law School together, and there is a real history there and that is a big part of obviously why she is coming to this firm. Will is an incredibly successful lawyer in Chicago; I think he is really good at what he does. I think he really enjoys living his life. He is methodical, he is loyal, he strikes me as someone who takes what he does very seriously but also tries to have a good time. He likes the Cubs, not the White Sox (laughs). He's a huge Bears fan, and I think he has a secret shrine to Michael Jordon in his living room but no one knows about it (laughs). When you work on a character, they always have to have secrets, you know?

There’s a sense of “I love these two people together, and there’s so many reasons why right now they shouldn’t be together as she works out her relationship with her husband, and she has two kids, and Will’s her boss.” And yet there is this sort of pull and connection between them that has some sort of tragic components to it. I’m really just happy that people are responding to that because we’re enjoying playing it.

It’s an all star cast – had you worked with the supporting actors (Noth, Baranski etc) before?
Josh Charles, I have known forever, and I actually had suggested him for the role.

I was fascinated by the episode where Alicia shares an intense kiss with her superior at the law firm, who happens to be her old law-school boyfriend. She then flees and goes home and initiates sex with her husband. What did you think about that scene?
Alicia's husband has cheated on her, she hasn't been touched in nine months, and she essentially uses her husband as a tool to satisfy herself. It was a bold choice for the writers and the show to include that sex scene in an aggressive and dominant way not often seen on network TV. And it was fun to play it that way.

Q: If you had to choose between Will and Peter, who would you choose?
JM: You know, I don’t know. Honestly, that’s a great question but it’s hard because you have to really look at it. Peter is the father of her children and when you see him with them, you can understand why she would choose him. On the other hand, Will is unbelievably dashing and handsome and in love with her as she is with him I think. So what do you sacrifice? I don’t know.

I think you're right, though I've been liking Cary so much this season that I still want to give him the benefit of the doubt for a week Damn it, hope they're not gonna ruin him for me. Honestly I can't stand Peter right now but I can't wait to see how it goes between him and Lockhart/Gardner next season.

I feel the same as you. I really started liking Cary the last half of this season and was hoping he would bury the hatchet with Alicia and come back to LG, but obviously that's not going to happen now. I guess it was too good of an opportunity for more drama, which is always good! I was sad when I realized he was going to help Peter. Peter has never been my favorite, especially after last night's epi, but I agree, there will be fireworks next year with Peter's SA office going against LG. I can't wait!

I feel sad for both of them though, especially when you consider those years Alicia wasted on Peter.

Me too. It breaks my heart really. But that’s the reality of life isn’t it – sometimes the choices we make turn out to be the right ones, sometimes they come back to bite us in the a**. But when it comes to romantic relationships I tend to believe (and you may call me idealistic or worse here) that often even if the relationship goes wrong and we end up hurt or heartbroken, we are still left richer in some way at the other end. Whatever it is the relationship may have given us: joyous memories, children, experience, growth, love and support while it lasted or/and back when it all began, the sheer pleasure and elation of being in love, the relationship is rarely a complete waste. If nothing else, what doesn’t kill us tends to make us stronger right? In the case of Alicia and Peter I honestly believe that even though Alicia might regret the missed connection between her and Will back in Georgetown and wonder what might have been between the two of them, and even though things ended with Peter the way they did, I still think that if Alicia had to do it all over again, knowing what she knows now, she would still have made the same choice that she did the first time around. Just for the fact that her relationship with Peter gave her the two things Alicia treasures more than anything in this world: her children. We all know that Zack and Grace mean everything to her, and because of them I don’t think Alicia would ever consider her time with Peter a waste. What is a waste, and Alicia might agree now, is the last two years that she spent trying to rebuild a life with a guy whom didn’t deserve the second chance. But hopefully Alicia will get the chance to figure out what she wants for herself now – not the kids, not Peter or his career: herself, and start to build the life she wants to live out of the wreckage of her old one.

Actually I’m not all opposed to this idea. Even though I ship W/A I actually think it could be a good thing that Alicia had the chance to date a little before her and Will possibly got serious. I think them starting up something serious right now in the middle of this mess could actually hurt their possibilities of building a viable relationship in the long run. I’m not saying that I’m opposed to the possible finger sex in the last episode (I’m not ), and I’m all for them starting to get closer again. But I really think that them rushing into something right now is not the way to go. Right now there is so much going on, and there probably will be for a while with the possible divorce and everything, so for them to jump the gun with all of this added stress very likely could just end up causing them both more hurt.
Therefore I really wouldn’t mind them realizing after they’ve gotten a little closer again (i.e. finger sex etc.), that now is not the time to start a relationship and for them to decide (no more missed connections – we’d like and actual conversation Kings!) to be a part for a while till everything has settled down. Because let’s face it: Alicia has been in a serious relationship with Peter for a lot of years, and lately a pretty tumultuous one at that, and for her to get out of that and go straight into another serious relationship with Will is pretty steep. She could probably really use some down time (please Kings let Alicia be alone for a while!) before she moves on to something like a new serious commitment. And in the meantime I wouldn’t be opposed to the possibility of another guy or two showing interest in and appreciation of Alicia. Nothing serious, just some attention to show Alicia what a catch she is, something I’m not really sure she realizes (and we all know that she is!). During this time Will could then figure out the whole Tammy-thing, and end that in the right way. And then finally when they’re both single and things have calmed down around them, then Will and Alicia could hopefully finally find a way to be together ( or so my fangirl heart hopes!).

And about time to say NO to Peter about time

I agree. I really admire Alicia for staying so long with Peter, and that she didn’t just leave after the first scandal. That shows a lot of integrity and more than anything is an incredible testament of love for her children. But after this last revelation it was time. Whatever they had managed to rebuild after the first scandal was blown to bits with the K/P revelation, and for the sake of Alicia’s own self-esteem and self-worth I’m glad she finally took this step. Alicia deserves the opportunity to try to build a new happier future for herself and she deserves a second chance at love, no matter if it’s with Will or someone else (although I prefer W of course). Alicia is such an amazing, loving and strong woman, and really the thing I would hate to see now more than anything is for her to settle for less than she deserves.

That is something she would actually regret for the last of her life, screwing up the only decent relationship she still has. Peter's gone, Kalinda will be gone soon, I like angry Alicia confronting people who hurted her, not Alicia hurting the only person who didn't do anything wrong to deserve it. Will's been hurt enough, that would really suck

You’re right she would regret it if something happened like that, but then I don’t think it will (I might be wrong, have been before, but there you have it). First of all, I believe that there is too much between Will and Alicia for them sleeping together now to be just about revenge on Alicia’s part. Whatever happens between them it’s been brewing for quite a while, and both the bond they seem to share and the feelings between them (whether romantic or friendship wise) got to make whatever happens between them based on more than revenge. Too much water has gone under the bridge for that in my opinion. Secondly I have a hard time seeing Alicia using Will in such a way. She respects and cares too much about him (as a friend or more) to do that. He was the one who saved her and gave her a job when she needed it, and even though they haven’t been close this year in the same way as the last, he is someone who she must have known would be there if she needed it. Also Alicia must after the whole VM debacle have an idea about Will feelings for her, even if he did turn her down in Net Worth. Maybe she thinks they have changed after that, but at least she knew they were there. On the basis of that Alicia has got to realize that sleeping with Will thoughtlessly could possibly hurt him, and I don’t think she’d want to knowingly do so. What I fear rather than Alicia using Will for revenge, is her inadvertently ending up sleeping with Will as a means of comfort and to feel better about herself. She’s obviously been hurt by Peter’s betrayal, and even though she’s now seems stronger than ever, her self-esteem very likely might have taken quite a hit by all the bimbos (and Kalinda). Could she – without having any conscious intentions of using him – end up sleeping with him to regain some confidence in her own attractiveness? I really hope not, but we’re all vulnerable once in a while and Alicia has been through the ringer with Peter so I don’t know. I just really hope not.

Maybe she dare to do what she really really wants right now and be selfish.

I loved it when Patti told Alicia to get her boyfriend.

Yeah Patti always had a good eye for the fact that something was going on between Will and Alicia, even though of course the boyfriend comment was overreaching at this point. Patti is great though - the woman has never been afraid to speak her mind, and I for one love her for it.

The end of this episode makes me think that things are gonna get very messy between Peter and Alicia. And the kids seemed very shaken. I can't see how something between Alicia and Will can start in such a situation. I'll start preparing for another season of angst.

I have to say that I do believe that Peter loves Alicia. I’ve never really trusted him, but I do believe him when he says he has fallen in love with her again. I'm not trying to defend him: what he did when he slept with Kalinda (and the hookers) was very wrong and he therefore very much brought Alicia’s anger on himself, and I'm glad she finally let him have it. But when it comes to the confrontation in the hall we also have to remember that his whole life had just been blown to pieces when Alicia kicked him out. I like many others disliked the fact that he accused Alicia the way he did about sleeping with Will, but I think the fact that he jumped there so quickly shows that it’s something he’s been wondering about for a while. He hadn’t been making the strides in winning Alicia back that he had obviously hoped, and he needed a reason. Since Peter has got a somewhat narcissistic personality and tend to be selfish and self-righteous, it was probably easier for him to blame his failure in winning Alicia back on someone else than to face the truth that he himself screwed up his marriage so royally that his wife is now kicking him to the curb. With good reason I might add.

After last night's episode, Peter is so going after Will next season! And Cary's gonna help him, the little creep! I think it's gonna backfire on Peter, though...it certainly won't endear him to Alicia.

Oh yes, that's most likely going to happen. But that's kinda childish from Peter. What good will it do? He screwed up. Trying to hurt a possible new interest of Alicia's is definitely going to backfire, indeed. "the little creep" - good one, I'm with you there!

One thing is for sure, we know who Ausiello was referring to when he said an unlikely friendship in the wake of K/P will have interesting implications for Alicia next season. It's obviously Cary and Peter.
