Will and Alicia [played by Juliana Margulies] are very close and went to Georgetown Law School together, and there is a real history there and that is a big part of obviously why she is coming to this firm. Will is an incredibly successful lawyer in Chicago; I think he is really good at what he does. I think he really enjoys living his life. He is methodical, he is loyal, he strikes me as someone who takes what he does very seriously but also tries to have a good time. He likes the Cubs, not the White Sox (laughs). He's a huge Bears fan, and I think he has a secret shrine to Michael Jordon in his living room but no one knows about it (laughs). When you work on a character, they always have to have secrets, you know?

There’s a sense of “I love these two people together, and there’s so many reasons why right now they shouldn’t be together as she works out her relationship with her husband, and she has two kids, and Will’s her boss.” And yet there is this sort of pull and connection between them that has some sort of tragic components to it. It’s an all star cast – had you worked with the supporting actors (Noth, Baranski etc) before?
Josh Charles, I have known forever, and I actually had suggested him for the role.

I was fascinated by the episode where Alicia shares an intense kiss with her superior at the law firm, who happens to be her old law-school boyfriend. She then flees and goes home and initiates sex with her husband. What did you think about that scene?
Alicia's husband has cheated on her, she hasn't been touched in nine months, and she essentially uses her husband as a tool to satisfy herself. It was a bold choice for the writers and the show to include that sex scene in an aggressive and dominant way not often seen on network TV. And it was fun to play it that way.

Q: If you had to choose between Will and Peter, who would you choose?
JM: You know, I don’t know. Honestly, that’s a great question but it’s hard because you have to really look at it. Peter is the father of her children and when you see him with them, you can understand why she would choose him. On the other hand, Will is unbelievably dashing and handsome and in love with her as she is with him I think. So what do you sacrifice? I don’t know.

You're absolutely right. She already thought what he had with Tammy was serious enough that she should not interfere. But then when she realized she was in love with him, she decided to give it a shot anyway. And when I think about it, Alicia saw Tammy in his office one day contemplating breaking up with him. The next day she sees Will sitting contemplatively and rather forlorn. Can't she think now that he really does love Tammy and was sad about losing her?

So I need some way that these two talk to each other. Maybe if Will starts acting like he loves her around her again, knowing that she didn't reject him. He may start cutting down the distance he had built up. And she now recognizes where that comes from. At least at a time she had meant something t more than a friend to him. Maybe then she asks him to cut it out or something. Tell him that he's not making it any easier for her. She may just tell him to stay away because it hurts her. See, it's going to be harder for her too now to be around him once she knows she loves him and thinks it's not returned.

i was just saying in the last thread that i think even if Alicia will hear the lost VM she wont go to talk to Will about it beacuse i think she will assume his over her...

thats why i think they are in a dead end road, he wont talk and she wont talk. the only
solution i see is some kind of a situation that will lead to hard core jealousy that they wont be able to sweep under the rug and then all the feelings will finally come out.

I did reply to your post rony but my reply didn't make much sense. I like the jealousy idea, but I think Will will stay away if he sees Alicia getting close to Peter. It may work with Alicia getting jealous of W/T but that wuold mean that Will is moving forward with Tammy putting aside his feelings for Alicia again. I don't like the situation A/W are in at all. I need something to move, something to change. I need them to start talking again.

I agree that hearing the VM alone won't get Alicia to act upon it.
BUT shouldn't the fact that he's loved her ever since GT make some difference? I mean, it's one thing to know that he said he loved her (in the few months since then he could have gotten over her), it's another thing altogther to know that he's loved her since GT. If 15 years (an many women, I would guess) didn't change that, can a few months and Tammy?
(Apropos of these 15 years that haven't changed Will's feelings, I was re-reading The age of innocence and there's a thing Newland says to Ellen when he sees her after about 2 years, that seems appropriate: "Each time you happen to me all over again").

A confrontation between them would be ideal, but that doesn't seem to be the pattern in their relationship. I'll be glad to be proven wrong. If Will starts acting like you say, Alicia could very well do something about it. Hopefully after the power battle at the firm is over, he'll have more time to think about everything and it will change the way he sees the past few months. I think that he really didn't have time, during the talk, to absorbe the whole meaning of it. The sad thing about Tammy falling for him is that he was being honest when he said "I'm not falling in love you!", so I don't see any problems on that front. Tammy represents something that he wants (a realtionship that could be meaningful but that doesn't come with all the angst and hurt) but Tammy herself is not important to him yet.
So if they ever are, for once, completely honest with each other and say everything there is to say, I'll be so very happy.

which makes me think Tammy must know that A&W are close beacuse now that i think of it, why would she open up to a mear colleague of her boyfriends? thats very NO NO... (in my book at list).

as for Will cutting down the distance he had built up btw them, i think they are kind of where they were before the VM thing, dont you think? i think he alredy cut down the walls, and so has she...
