I hate that the writers couldn't let them be happy for more than 2 episodes. Season 5 set up this great romantic reunion for D/Jo, and they really let us down with S6.

I thought they would end up like Ross and Rachel did - drawing out the whole on/off thing until the end where they finally get back together.

They were, in fact, originally scripted to end up together. Kevin Williamson (the creator) said so in the commentary for the series finale.

she was 100% team Djo

They remind me of Ross and Rachel too

I also thought Djo were endgame because of the season 4 finale which was supposed to be the series finale cause the writers didn't know if the show was back for another season so I was hopeful and they crushed my hopes

I think it spoke volumes that Season 4 could have been the end, and CODA's ending focuses on the goodbye/re-connection between D/Jo.

At least the writers respected them somewhat at that point. I think the problem with Season 6 is that there was too much analysis of the love triangle in the media and the fanbases were constantly at war with each other that it made the whole thing way more difficult to wrap up.

Season 4 was a nice bookend to Season 1, with D/Jo kissing at the window.

Yep. The Original Finale episode basically had D/Jo as endgame, just as the Original script for the actual Series Finale had D/Jo as endgame.
