Rey's parentage I can participate in because there's been nothing in the way of spoilers.

If you follow twitter and LFL storygroup members, they're getting hounded with questions and people trying to "dig" for any info on Rey's parentage, proof against other peoples' theories, etc... Every time Daisy opens her mouth it's analyzed to death. I can't imagine how tired those actors are of fielding that question, put a hundred different ways by so many people.

There are fans that are 100% Rey Skywalker and nothing else. Then you have Rey Kenobi fans, Rey Solo fans (which I think TFA outright debunks - the only path to Rey Solo retroactively makes the writing and the characters in TFA extremely crappy to me, and makes no sense), Rey the new Chosen One, and Rey Unrelated - where "random" is often hurled about like it's an insult or something if she's not related to a legacy character.


I freely admit I'm going to spoil myself on her parentage if it leaks prior to TLJ. I want to be able to enjoy seeing the movie at the theater at least, and I'll be completely honest - if she turns out to be Luke's daughter my interest in the sequel trilogy will be about 75%-80% lost. I find it too predictable, too much of a rehash (yet another secret Skywalker relative? Blah), and it puts too much emphasis on Rey's relationship with Luke over that of her relationship with others, like Han as her father figure in TFA, and especially Kylo - there's nothing compelling in cousin vs. cousin. They were set up to be a defining relationship in the ST and their dynamic has an element of mystery and a freshness to it, that ReyWalker would just kill, IMO. And with Rey a Skywalker, they can kill Ben Solo off, because Luke's good kid would be here to save the day and will continue the legacy. .

There' also an element of Luke vs. Leia there I'm not a fan of. Leia and Ben tend to get looked over in the fact that they are Skywalkers.

Guess my theory of "Midichlorians" puts me under the theory of people that are going towards another "The Chosen One" which I do firmly put myself in that theory-base related to Anakin was suppose to be but he turned Dark which guess put "balance" but just to the Darkside. So Rey being the opposite side of it related to bringing back to balance to "the lightside"

Now if it were to be one of the characters from SW lore than am Team!Kenobi

Agree with this 100%! It's why i get annoyed when people say Rey needs to be a Skywalker because we need a new generation of Skywalkers and I'm like:

Yeah I want something shocking that will go down in history! They need to keep things fresh with this new trilogy, TFA, as much as I adore it, already had a LOT of resemblences to ANH.

I think Kenobi would be cool and unexpected, also her parents being new characters from a family we haven't been introduced to yet.

Yeah Well, I think the big speculation is what went wrong during his training with Kylo to get Kylo where he is now. And what is Kylo's previous connection with Rey because he recognized her ("It IS you") and on her quick flashes when she touched the saber, we saw the Knights of Ren.
