This thread is for all the girlfriends, love interests and potential love interests Luke has been associated with in the expanded universe, including his wife, Mara Jade. This is such an important category in the eu I figured it'd be appropriate to have a thread for it. It includes women who never developed into love interests but with whom the possibility was obvious in the story, such as Darial Anglethorn.

When I was a kid I identified with Luke, so his love life mattered to me. I was originally a Luke/Leia shipper, but that obviously couldn't last. I was very taken with Shira Brie (from the the Marvel comics) and was pissed off when she got reduced to cyborghood (as Lumiya). I also liked Darial Anglethorn (also from Marvel), who never got together with Luke but who had the advantage of not being evil. Later eu material for the role playing game brought back Darial and indicated that she was force sensitive.

The best known love interest for Luke was his wife Mara Jade, from Zahn's books. Of course, George Lucas has said Luke doesn't get married, but what does he know? Somebody needs to tell George that attachment is good for you.

What I have to say is that Mara and Luke did marry and they never should have killed her off.
And I have to read the Marvels someday to know the story of his other love interests.
The ladies from the novels were kind of lame.

I always liked Callista. But I haven't read those books since they were new, and I was maybe 14 or 15, so I have no idea if I'd still like her today. I don't like Mara and Luke together personally. *shrug* Didn't mind Mara as a character. Just not with Luke.

Mara was clearly based on Shira. Agent of the empire, force sensitive, sent to kill Luke, has a romantic involvement with him. Shira was even colored with a reddish tinge to her brown hair.

She was ok. I've always been a Mara/Luke shipper. Ever since I first heard about the EU books.
