Carried over...

Oh, I trust just about anyone over GL, don't get me wrong. Gary Kurtz, Irvin Kershner, just about ANYONE. But Mark's the one who said he doesn't remember filming that scene, and I don't know why he would lie about that.
I just meant that hearing Mark's take will be interesting.

Saying that he doesn't remember filming it isn't the same thing as saying that he didn't film it, to be fair. But I tend to agree with you, it seems like a strange thing to just forget. More likely it didn't happen, and he's just being polite.

Why do I remember seeing a lightsaber building scene? Was that a dream I had?

Am I the only one who just about NEVER watches ANY of the special features? I don't think I've ever watched a movie with audio commentary at all. If I had two hours to spend watching a movie I'd already seen with someone talking through it... it just doesn't appeal at all.
I watch them. Sometime they are the first thing I watch. I also watch the commentary if the actors are involved. Thought I must say I have watched all the commentaries on the Twilight Saga DVDs, and for Life As a House and Shattered Glass (even though Hayden didn't do it), and for my Friends DVDs and Alias season 1-2.

So yea..... I like special features.
I have a friend who watches the SF more often then the film itself.

The lightsaber scene and Mark's commentary: That deleted Star Wars scene? Mark Hamill says it ISN'T him | Blastr

Ooops, the ROTJ footage in that link got deleted, this one works: TrailerSpy - Return of the Jedi Deleted Scene

That's obviously not Mark, and not even a very good stand-in, we only see his chin but it looks NOTHING like him. It also seems like a completely irrelevant scene... I don't know if it was faked later or not, but it seems weird that they'd film a scene with a close-up shot of the main character's face, even if it's just his chin, and not use the actual actor... especially since AFAIK, there were very few scenes at all when a body double or a stunt double was used for Luke. The landspeeder scenes in ANH, because Mark was in the hospital. Going through the window in ESB, which he wanted to do but the insurance company insisted on a stunt double, and that backflip on the sail barge in ROTJ...Oh, and apparently when they're making his new hand... that's disappointing, for some odd reason. But it wasn't a face shot... I don't think Ian McDiarmid had chin doubles or anything.

ANYWAY... that's not the only special feature, obviously, but I'm a little bit wary of anything that hasn't been brought out by now. There have been so many releases already that I highly doubt there's anything original and worth seeing that hasn't already been seen.

I LOVE hearing actors (and if it's Irvin Kershner, directors) talk about making the movies! But I don't want to watch the movie with the commentary. Don't really know why... as I understand, some of them are really intersting, but I'd rather watch interviews as interviews, and let the movies stand alone. *shrug* I also listen to complete albums and play video games where the only "end" is rolling over the score and stuff like that... my taste just got stuck in the 80s or something, and I know I'm probably in the minority these days. Of course it's nice that they're doing things like that for the people who DO like them!

What's nice about watching the commentaries is that sometimes what's happening on the screen prompts the actors to remember something that they might not have thought of in interviews.

Totally! I noticed that with Rob and Kristen's commentaries.

What's lame is that, as I understand it, GL tried to pass it off as being Mark.

Exactly. Which makes people wonder if it might not really have been filmed with the rest of the movie, and since there's no real way for the average person to know one way or the other. It may very well be legit, but not knowing makes it less special.

Well, he's diabetic, so cake's out. And sugar-free cake has almost as much carbs as regular cake.

No, those were sacrificed to Satan in exchange for the success of the prequels.
