Jedi Archives|Star Wars Books #27: Thanks to Disney there's a whole new canon now.

Hello and Welcome to the Star Wars Book Club Discussion Thread

Anyone can be a part of the book club discussion, just come in, introduce yourself and read the books we are reading. Then just simply participate, give us your reviews, opinions etc. We'd like to discuss the books with you.

We will be bringing you reviews of other books as well.

The newest release in the new Star Wars canon is Bloodline (novel - Wookieepedia - Wikia)

Quote:
Bloodline is a canon novel written by Claudia Gray. The story takes place six years prior to Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and centers on Princess Leia Organa as she serves as a member of the Galactic Senate of the New Republic. Throughout the novel, Princess Leia contends with different threats to the Republic, both internal and external, in a series of events that ultimately leads to the formation of the Resistance that appeared in The Force Awakens.

The novel, which was released on May 3, 2016, was first announced on October 10, 2015, before the premiere of The Force Awakens. It was originally given the title New Republic: Bloodline before it was shortened to simply Bloodline. Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars: Episode VIII, contributed some ideas to the novel.

I want to read Bloodline eventually, especially since it sounds to be very Leia centric.

I too read that back in the 90's, when I was about 13. I remember liking it. Not my favorite though after reading many more SW novels.

One of my favorites is 'Tattooine Ghost'. I read that one religiously.
I love Tattooine Ghost. Been a while since I read it, but if I do a SW re-read that would be it.

I want to share another recording I did. This is from New York Comic Con 2015.

https://team-ahsoka.com/2016/06/04/w...-novel-so-far/

Quote:
Shortly after the heart-wrenching Star Wars Rebels season two finale “Twilight of the Apprentice” was aired, Nerdist.Com broke the news that Ahsoka Tano would be getting her very own young adult novel, one that would explore how the former Padawan went on to become a key figure within the fledgling Rebel Alliance.

So what do we know about the novel so far?

Canadian author E.K Johnston is writing the novel. Johnston is a huge Star Wars fan and is best known for her young adult novels, A Thousand Nights and Exit, Pursued By A Bear.
The novel will be released on October 11, 2016, and will be available in hardcover and Kindle format; it will probably be available in paperback in late 2016/early 2017.

It’s unlikely that the novel will span the entire 15 years or so between the end of Clone Wars and Ahsoka’s first appearance on Star Wars Rebels, though such a lengthy time span can’t be ruled out entirely (just look at Claudia Gray’s Lost Stars).

Judging from the synopsis on Amazon, the key events of the novel take place after the devastation of Order 66 and during the early years of the Galactic Empire.

We will see the return of and/or references to several prequel-era and original trilogy characters, including Bail Organa and Mon Mothma (the founders of the Rebel Alliance).

According to Jennifer Heddle, Senior Editor at Lucasfilm and LucasBooks, the first excerpts may be published in time for Star Wars Celebration Europe or San Diego Comic Con (though this is subject to change).

Heddle also clarified that Ahsoka will be an entirely new story and is not being adapted from unfinished Clone Wars episodes, though there’s always a chance that some unused Clone Wars story concepts may be make their way into the novel.
