Free Star Wars D6 RPG
Hello all. I grew up with Star Wars, and now my son loves it too. I also grew up playing RPGs (D&D 2nd - 4th, Vampire the Masquerade, WEG's Star Wars D6, etc).
So not overly long ago I decided to create my own tabletop Star Wars RPG. It is not finished, but it is playable (although if you've no tabletop RPG experience you may find the lack of certain rules limiting). Here is a PDF of my system: http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/10..._v00-01-00.pdf I was wondering if the community, especially those into desktop RPGs, might have a look. Give me suggestions, thoughts, and *constructive* criticism. Feel free to post corrections, suggestions, etc in this thread. I know its not yet finished, there may be errors in the text, there is no space combat details, etc. [edit] 8 Oct 2011 @ 11:57am EST I've created a newer version which has many beneficial changes: http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/10..._v00-02-00.pdf [/edit] Last edited by aparker; 10-08-2011 at 08:58 AM Reason: Linked to a newer version of my game. |

Yet another update: version 0.3.0
Added combat modifiers, replaced the health system that for some reason was missing previously. [edit] 8 Oct 2011 @ 8:16pm EST Corrected examples that were based off changed rules: version 0.4.0 [/edit] Last edited by aparker; 10-08-2011 at 05:21 PM |

I have added two new downloads. One (RELEASE) will point at the current release version of the game; the second (CURRENT) will point at the version I'm currently working on. The CURRENT version is fluid, and may undergo many changes within a single version number.

I don't think D&D 3rd and 4th edition really qualify as D&D, and Vampire the Masquerade was too pretentious and negative.
Designing an RPG is a lot of work. I know, I've tried it before. __________________

It's too much work to go reading a whole set of RPG rules now.

OK, that's one vote for, "I just like hearing the sound of my own voice."
Has anyone input that I would find useful regarding the system I'm writing? |

You're being unnecessarily rude.
I'm sorry I couldn't help you with your project, but I've never liked any tabletop RPG system that wasn't D&D, so you wouldn't like my comments anyway. Plus Star Wars RPGs are inevitably going to be unfaithful to Star Wars because of the limitations of rule systems and that always pisses me off. All in all, my input would not be to your liking. So there wasn't much point in me looking at your system. But I posted here because this board needs posts and I commented on the other RPG systems to have something to comment on. I'm sorry if that pissed you off, but you really should be more polite if you want help on a board. __________________

D&D is OK, I think it fits medieval fantasy well, but I don't think that system is well suited to genres like Star Wars. |

I experimented with multiple systems and read through others. It got to the point where I decided I didn't want to look at any more game systems because they were bound to disappoint me. And then there's systyems like VTM, which has an incredibly screwed up attitude. I don't want to try out at a system like THAT again.
As for Star Wars, I don't think any system is suited to Star Wars. I think it's better off just not trying to RPG-ize Star Wars or any existing fiction settting that doesn't start with an RPG. __________________

I've heard about them. Lucas has sunk into self-parody.

Each to their own, I guess.
