I think things will be calmer between them if they meet in IX. Kylo will probably be so lost and sad that he'll actually be more willing to listen to Luke next time.

True. I think that their encounter on Crait really helped him, He took a lot of his rage on him and he seemed sad and lost alredy after that.

When he turns round after realizing that Luke isn't there in person, you can already see the look of regret and sadness on Kylo's face.
