That was a good song. I'm surprised by how much I liked it. I hope it does get a nomination.

I saw the movie today and was pleasantly surprised. I thought the cast was great. I think everyone involved knew that there was no replacing Robin Williams, Will's performance was both good and respectful of the original. I really liked the rest of the cast too. Mena and Naomi were both great, IMO. I liked the changes they made which I'll put in spoilers:

Remakes rarely win at the Oscars. A Star Is Born really only won for original songs....sadly i dont see this doing anything at the Oscars.

I was asking about the song. I thought Speechless was an original song? Not a remake of the old movie songs

I listened to the new soundtrack yesterday. I was not a fan of Will Smith rapping most of the songs. I thought that they sounded really bad. I have no problem with "A Whole New World", the Alan Menken stuff I'm always going to love. Naomi has a good voice.

I was not interested to see the movie like at all when I heard about it and I didn't even watch any trailers for it. Because the animated one wasn't a favorite of mine growing up. So I was planning to skip the live action one. However this year I have been loving to go to cinema alot and I wanted to go again last Friday. And this was the only movie that I thought I could see during that day. So I went and I was pleasantly surprised with it. I really loved this movie. The cast was awesome and I really loved the over all look of things in it. So I can't wait to see it again when it comes out on Bluray.

I can finally come into this thread after watching b/c I wanted to avoid spoilers

it was better than I expected in a lot of ways (I had my doubts about Will as the Genie but he was funny)

loved the costumes and set/production design

I liked the addition of Dalia as Jasmine’s handmaiden/friend

I do however agree with this critique:



idk how many of you guys have also watched the DCOM Lemonade Mouth but that’s where I first watched Naomi and I really liked her there and her singing voice

favorite part of this movie was definitely Naomi (I actually think I liked her more as a character in this movie than the original)

I hadn’t re-watched the original movie in a while so this movie became real to me when Arabian Nights started playing
