The writers have gotten a lot of hate and confused fans as to why James seems to be getting fewer screentime in general. I feel the same about James' reduced time onscreen, but keeping optimistic about the show overall.

I agree with them. Upset with Kara treatment towards James, upset with the treatment towards James.... seems this show coming over to the CW is what ruined things.

It does seem that way, but I do hope the writers still have a great deal of control. But definitely believe that the network does have an impact on the direction of a series.

I'm not going to make assumptions about the reasoning for this shift, and I am going to wait to see what happens next

I wonder if it's the CW giving them notes it wouldn't be the first time a studio has done that but I will think positive because the alternative reasoning as to why would be horrible

it wouldn't surprise me and not to say that Chris is a bad actor but I could see them doing that giving them notes to prop him up and make Mechad take a backseat but I hope that is not the case

I agree. We know the network surely has a say. They depend on the network to renew their shows. I'm just being real here. I just wonder in what capacity they have 'controlled' Supergirl writers/crew.

I really don't want to think about all that...

Agreed especially since this was brought over from CBS I wonder if they have some conditions although I don't know if it makes it easier to handle the lack of James or harder if we found out that it was all network idea

I feel like it'll be a big disappointment for us if we did know what all happens behind the scenes. I know several shows that had drama behind the scenes, unfortunately.

I noted on another thread that a pretty reliable source recently said that at least a few of the writers are not happy with some of the show's direction this year, mainly elevating Mon-El to Kara's co-star at the expense of Alex, J'onn, and James.

Nothing against Chris; he's a fine actor with great comic timing, but when Chyler, the show's co-lead with Melissa, is frequently getting less screen time than him, something is off. Alex had about one-third the screen time as Mon-El in this week's episode, for example.

This smacks of classic network interference, and I do think that CW execs are trying to remake the show to resemble other shows on the network. They have a formula they like to use, and we're now seeing it show up here.

So that means that James has taken a back seat and it often feels like they don't know what to do with the character any more.

if that is true it will explain it I think Chris is great but he has been more screen time than most and that is not how you should treat the ones who were there from the beginning, because they are part of the reason the show is a success
