- Everyone is hanging out at the alien bar. Cute.

- No! J’onn is turning into a white martian! Hopefully Alex can find a way to fix that, because I love green Martian Manhunter just the way he is!

M’Gann should have come clean to Alex about her blood being a death sentence before agreeing to the transfusion on J'onn. It also seemed a bit out of character for her to be so callous about it after she told him.

- Still loving the Superfriends… but Winn sucks at keeping secrets

- Looks like Supergirl borrowed Arrow’s Vigilante for today's episode.

- The Cyborg Superman reveal happened faster than I thought it would. I thought there would be some confusion for a few episodes between who was J’onn and who was Hank.

Now Cyborg!Hank has access to the Fortress. That can’t be good.

- Thanagar name drop! Do they have a version of the Hawks in the Supergirl-verse too?

- How did Cadums know that Kara turns human when she overuses her heat vision unless someone at the DEO told them?

- Jeremiah is back! But where did he come from? Has he been hiding in the bowels of Cadmus for the last 15 years, or has he been working for them all this time but drew the line at them kidnapping Kara?

- Looking forward to the crossover next week! Kara x4

Opinion

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I didn't particularly like this episode. Here's why.
1. Jeremiah and Real!Hank surviving is a HUGE plot hole. If Cadmus had Henshaw for all these years, wtf did they think was going on with the guy heading the DEO? Did they think that Hank Henshaw could duplicate himself and that's why they experimented on him? And how the heck did they find two gravely injured people in some random remote location in another country and get them stabilized enough for... whatever they've been doing?
2. Jeremiah saving the day was deus ex machina. Also, why on Earth did he stay behind? Did they turn him into a vampire that will dissolve upon contact with sunlight or something?
3. I'm not particularly fond of the way Alex is approaching her relationship with Maggie. Remember last season when Winn kissed Kara without her consent, immediately apologized, spent a few days working on his emotions before rejoining the Superfriends when they needed him, and was pretty much burned at the fandom stake as the embodiment of white male entitlement? Well, these past couple episodes we've had Alex kiss Maggie without her consent (and without apologizing) and avoid her for a few days. Okay. Avoidance makes sense because she, like Winn, needed to work through her emotions and decide of the constant reminder of heartbreak was a reasonable price to pay for continued friendship. But then, when Alex meets up with Maggie, she starts ranting about how she came out because she thought Maggie felt the same way. Am I the only person who thinks she sounded like she felt entitled to Maggie's affections? Because that's not okay. (Lastly, I'm angry about how the fandom treated Winn vs. how it's treating Alex. Double standards much?)
4. How and when did Kara get her powers back? Did I just miss that scene?
5. Cadmus emptied that creepy lab out really fast.
6. J'onn is suffering. First he's seeing all these awful hallucinations and nearly kills a fellow agent because of it. Then he finds out that he's got white Martian blood in his veins. M'gann, who he likes and trusted, wasn't what he thought, and he had to deal with the trauma of realizing that he was once again the last green Martian. And now he's turning into a white Martian. The thing he hates, the thing that killed literally everyone he ever knew and loved, and he's becoming one, and there's nothing he can do to stop it. That's body horror and PTSD and grief and basically nightmare fuel because the genocide of his people is being completed within his own traitorous body.
And he's alone.
The end of the episode had the younger adults hanging out drinking beer. Clearly, nobody there has any idea what's happening to J'onn. So the only person who does know is locked up in a cell, and J'onn is completely alone, again. He's probably curled up on his couch right now, stress-eating Chocos and sobbing quietly.
WHY CAN'T HE JUST BE HAPPY? Why does he always have to suffer?

Cadmus already knew that J'onn was running the DEO because Cyborg!Hank was ranting about J'onn taking over his life.

They've probably been tracking the DEO forever. Jeremiah and Hank "died" in the same place, so it wouldn't have been too hard to find both of them.

I'm guessing he's been working for Cadmus all this time, but kidnapping Kara was crossing the line for him (or... he's well and truly brainwashed and was told to free her so they could track Kara and Mon-El as part of a bigger plan)

I guess she's able to "recharge" now instead of needing an adrenaline rush (although if she DID need one, they could have just shot some into her once she was back at the DEO).

This is not a plothole.

It's pretty obvious he's a member of the organization and not a prisoner, but it's also clear that he's still very much the same man he was before he disappeared/"died".

How is Alex feeling hurt and rejected and admitting as much to Maggie a "double standard"?

It took a while the first time for Kara to recharge, but they clearly learned their lesson from last time and found a way to accelerate the "healing process".

There wasn't actually that much to clear out.

Do you really think J'onn is in any position, psychologically, to want to go out 'clubbing' with Kara and Co.? He's turning into the one thing he hates, and there's nothing anybody can do to stop it from happening.

Methinks that you were just looking for reasons to knock this episode, because most of your objections are really flimsy and can easily be pushed aside with a little bit of logic.

The pacing of this episode, wow. So much happened. I wasn't expecting to get Cyborg Superman's first appearance and Jeremiah's reappearance all in one episode!

Mind blown. I'm with you on needing to lie down. Felt like I was on a roller coaster. In emotions too. From Kara seeing Jeremiah and J'onn finding out about M'gann and being told he is turning into a white martian, to Alex and Maggie's conversations and Mon-El basically confessing he has a crush on Kara.

Great episode. Need to re-watch it again!

It was a decent enough episode though Kara I guess is not a fan of people or vigilantes going around saving the day wearing masks though that's what I think Batman does. I wonder how the 2 of them would get along. I guess Kara doesn't think of herself as a hypocrite since she does hide her identity from just about everyone.

If Jonn is going to turn into a white martian I hope it happens sooner than later. It was mentioned on this show that Kara doesn't have a mate & I'm guessing never will. That really wasn't at all why she came to Earth anyway.

Yes, we all know that's what Batman does; not you

I wonder what she'll think when she meets Oliver and all of both Team Arrow, Team Flash, and the Legends next week?

Digikey, Elektra, I'm afraid that I have to respectfully disagree with you on a few points.
The reason I think that Real!Henshaw's survival is a plot hole is that if Cadmus saved his life all those years ago in Peru, then a bunch of alien-hating fanatics knowingly allowed an alien shapeshifter to run the US government's alien-hunting division. More than that, they had definitive proof (in the form of Real!Henshaw) that the guy running the DEO wasn't the real deal, and they deliberately chose not to expose him for over a decade. It's not like it would have been hard to expose him. All they had to do was show up with Real!Henshaw and maybe get a blood sample (or a cheek swab) to prove that "Hank" wasn't human. They could have done this at any point in the last several years, and honestly, I can't imagine that the crazies wouldn't have at least tried it. The fact that Cadmus knowingly allowed a 'monster' to run a powerful government agency when they could have stopped him pretty much whenever they wanted to is massively OOC, which is why I feel that Real!Henshaw's survival is a plothole.
I agree with you that there was more to the "Jeremiah to the rescue" scene than met the eye, but I still felt like it was kind of sloppy for him to do it rather than the DEO or Kara's family. This is a subjective opinion, though, and if you liked it, then good for you. We're different people and don't have to like the same things.
Thank you both for pointing out that the DEO (cough Alex cough) probably did whip something up after Kara's first solar flare. I hadn't thought of that, and it's a really good theory.
The rest of this is a response to digikey.
In my third point from my original post, the 'double standard' to which I referred was not how Alex behaved towards Maggie but the tumblr fandom's reaction to that behavior. Winn did similar things back in the first season and the fandom reacted very negatively, but now that it's Alex's turn to act like Winn did, everyone is so sad and sympathetic towards her. I think that the differing responses to similar behaviors demonstrates a double standard within this fandom.
You are completely right in pointing out that there wasn't too much to clear out of the Cadmus lab. I honestly hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense.
I also agree that J'onn is in no mood to be partying or 'hanging out.' What I meant is not that he was excluded from friends night but that he doesn't have a shoulder to cry on. I just wish that someone was there for him, or that someone had checked up on him after the hallucinations, freaky blood test, and discovering that M'gann was a white Martian rather than a green. A big gathering wouldn't help him now, but just one or two people showing their support would make a truly horrible day slightly less miserable. Instead, he is alone, and that just makes me sad.
Lastly, I was not "looking for reasons to knock this episode." The things on my original list occurred to me as I was watching, and they contributed to my dislike of the episode. Saying that I was looking for excuses implies that I disliked the episode (for some reason that I guess I didn't post when talking about what I disliked in it?) and then went spelunking for minor flaws. It was actually the other way around.
If you liked 2X07, good for you. That's perfectly okay, just like my dislike of the episode is perfectly okay. These posts are just here to explain why I think what I think (and also my frustration, at least in the original post) because in the end, storytelling is subjective. So now that I've explained myself, could we maybe just agree to disagree? Thanks.

I think Kara may have made that comment out of a little jealousy. We know she gets jealous pretty easily. She wants the spotlight!
