It’s that tragedy that really punches you in the gut at the end of the film. I

They made it a bit ambiguous by having Jack’s wife describe a Jack dying by a blown tire and then showing images of Ennis imagining Jack dying from a beating. I say was no accident, which makes it more tragic. (I read somewhere that the short story makes it more clear. I need to read it again.)

I tho that he was live from I remember even tho I was too young to watch it, but by the time, I get older, I watch it, but damn, I didn't expect that happen...

The death of Jack is so ambiguous, and apparently in the book is not very clear about it either.
