I believe that creature was called a Gorn? It is to bad they did not update that species after the show had money for costumes and special effects.

Oh, but they did. When Star Trek: Enterprise visited the mirror universe and Captain Archer found himself on the bridge of a Constitution class Defiant, the crew learned that there was a Gorn aboard causing trouble. I didn't really care for the update, honestly.

I never found the budget-constrained special effects appealing. I was always amazed at how good they were considering what little Roddenberry had to work with, but never considered them appealing. The Gorn would have benefited from the small level of modification that made the Klinglons, Romans and Andorians much more interesting.
