I think a lot of it was that Tom knew B'Elanna was the one he wanted and so he was up for the challenge of getting her. She meant more to him than anyone else.

They certainly made a great couple once they got together. At first glance, they didn't seem to be a match, but they really complemented each other.

Yes they did. I can't wait for the next gifset that person on tumblr is doing for the Voyager episodes because it is Blood Fever.
