Yes, he became a more rounded character.

Another thing I loved about this episode was all the references to past episodes, I was saying, oh yes I remember that one!

So many awesome little drops. The bucket. The small pic of Odo (early season). References to previous missions. And of course ... "How to identify a Changeling."

Seven caught the LaForge Changeling imposter in the same way that Odo caught the Kira Changeling imposter - a phrase/word the imposter used that both Seven and Odo knew the REAL people wouldn't use. For Seven, it was the way LaForge addressed her (by Hansen, not Commander Seven like the real one would've used). For Odo, it was when "Kira" said that she was in love with him too when he knew she didn't feel that way about him (not yet).

Effective use of flashbacks.

Knowing that goes a long way towards explaining Shaw's attitude. Very similar to Sisko's history with Locutus.

Something creepy going on there.

You can see that when he realizes just who it was that asked that question, he realized now that he played a part in not knowing his son.

Great ep.
Loved the expression on Picard's face when he realizes that he told Jack Starfleet was the only family he needed.

It would make sense that the Borg never encountered Changelings.

So many small references that fit perfectly into this storyline and didn't seem forced.

Also one other thing I forgot to mention

The logs are back

and the end scene was reminiscent of 'First Contact'

I loved the call outs to the important phrases ... "discovering new life" and "boldly getting the hell out of here."

And the return of the logs !

Anybody else notice that little shape Jack made with his whisky straw? I think that will come up again.

No, I didn't notice that. I'm really curious as to what's going on with Jack.

I think changelings can't be assimilated due to their liquid form, though jem hadar would have made strong drones, but I think the borg always only had single ships here and there in the gamma quadrant, and the dominion was a huge force much stronger than any species in the alpha. beta or delta quadrant, they had ten thousands of battle ships, a single borg cube or two would not have stood a chance against so many ships.

40 starfleet ships are no match for a cube, but thousands of dominion battle ships surely. The borg may have known about the dominion, but not much and assimilating their homeworld to assimilate all their knowledge, would have cost too many ressources and not been an efficient endeavour from the borg point of view.

Good point. Hadn't really thought about it that way since we tend to see them in a solid form.
