Very excited about a new series. Getting back to NG, I am reminded that, at least initially, Jean-Luc wanted to keep a safe distance from Beverly out of respect for her husband. In fact, in the initial episode he first asks her if she wants to transfer in case he is too much of a reminder of her husband. A nice gesture, but Beverly informs him that she actively sought out the Enterprise posting!
