I think the Trill host takes over the volunteer's body and they feel/see what the Trill is doing, but not the other way around. I don't think Curzon would know about Kira because Odo was just an observer with Curzon in control at that point. It was definitely an important learning experience for Odo, but I don't think the host knows everything that's going on with the volunteer. Remember Quark didn't like his host experience, but the host only said that he wanted to say something, she didn't necessarily know what it was.



Ah Quark, just wait till you actually have to be a woman....

In these days I read the novelization of "What you leave behind" and the O/K reunion is way better in the book.

It's the one thing I was a bit disappointed in the episode. Odo and Kira hadn't seen each other for days, she left him that he was dying and when he beams down their reunion is placated because of the audience.
in the book Kira doesn't care if there are people around them LOL

I agree, the book reunion was better. I wish we'd been able to see Kira run into his arms and kiss him. Especially in front of the Female Changeling who had always told Odo that Kira would never love him back.

What I didn't like about the book version was the scene between Odo and Sisko on the bridge of the Defiant. In the book, Odo isn't thinking about Kira when Sisko thinks he is. In the episode that aired, we see Odo visibly distracted, unable to look at the PADD he's holding. When Sisko says "I wish she was here too, Constable" Odo looks up and replies that he's worried about her, not knowing if she's safe. I like that version better -- it shows Odo's willingness to talk to others openly about his love for Kira, his concern for her. He sent her back to fight with the Cardassian Resistance while he was dying. Now he's better but she's not by his side and is likely in danger.


During a scene with Bashir in "Dogs of War" Odo mentions that he's spoken to Kira, who's aware that he's now cured of the disease. Not only that but Kira asks him when he'll be rejoining her. While it's not an in-person reunion, it made me happy to know that he found a way to let her know that he's been cured. He sent her away because he was -- as always -- protecting HER. He didn't want her forever tormented by the memory of his final moments just as she was "haunted" by Bareil's. Now that he's cured and well, where does he want to be? By her side. He was just waiting for Bashir to declare him "fit for duty."
