When you know the story, and what's gonna happen, you get more of a chance to watch the characters and how they react, not just to situations, but to each other.

That's very true. Also, watching a second or third time often helps with noticing little details.

In rewatches I've definitely noticed how close Janeway and Chakotay routinely stand to each other.

I think it's also a testament to the actors that there is so much to discover in body language and facial expressions even after having seen it several times...

Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. It helps show that the actors are really in character.

It started from the first moment they were on the bridge, him standing close to her -- the Maquis Rebel -- and there was Kathryn, staring him down. They had that instant connection. And when they finally looked away from each other, they did it at the same time.
