Their relationship was always nice, but yeah the way they got back together in the movies was awkward.

I didn't like how it caused problems with Riker and Worf's friendship through almost the last moments of the final season. Troi and Riker's relationship never should have been as complicated as it was portrayed at that point.

It was sweet when that happened, but it was still a little awkward yeah
We did get the preview of just how much when Picard was mentally sent to the future in the Season 7 Finale.
