Actually, to be totally honest about it... I would prefer they try to find some unknown actors or at least those who are not so well known. Let's give some new people a chance to shine. And, as has been pointed out already, Chris is already convincing as one superhero in two successful franchises, so perhaps he can stick with those to be a superhero and try different things in other roles.
Though, if he DOES play Flash Gordon, you can bet I will be making an effort to watch the movie! __________________
