STAR TREK: DISCOVERY
NEW S3 Promotional Artwork

Chris 02-23-2020 02:04 PM

Interesting. Looks like we'll have a couple of new characters.

Arrakis 02-23-2020 06:00 PM

Looks interesting, but is that an official promo or a fanmade one?

scififan2009 02-23-2020 10:47 PM

Hmmm, I wonder how disorderly the future will be.

Will there even be a federation or Starfleet?

good question. Maybe they're going with a wild west theme?

From the trailer it seemed there was still a sort of starfleet but only with a few star systems.

Has anyone of you ever seen "Gene Rodenberry's Andromeda"? Bc it's based on the same rodenberry script idea as the new season of discovery.

Chris 02-24-2020 04:07 PM

No, I never watched Andromeda.

Arrakis 02-26-2020 11:14 AM

I found it quite good.

Chris 02-26-2020 12:25 PM

Maybe I can catch an episode in syndication. I'll have to check my listings.

Arrakis 02-27-2020 10:32 AM

I don't know if it airs anywhere right now.

But the story is based on the same script idea as the new season of discovery.

Chris 03-02-2020 06:38 AM

Sounds interesting. Looks like the SciFi channel here is airing it. I'll wait until they get back to the first season.

Arrakis 03-02-2020 12:30 PM

It certainly has some script weaknesses especially in season 3 (5 seasons in total), but it's a decent show I found.

It takes place 300 years after the fall of the commonwealth a federation-like star alliance due to an apocalyptic war. And there's one captain and his ship the andromeda (which has a feeling AI as it's computer) from this old civilization, who got stuck near a black hole so the time was much slower for him and he then finds random outsiders who become part of his crew and they try to rebuild the commonwealth and of course have several enemies who want to stop them. But since the andromeda, a battleship from the old commonwealth is far more advanced than anything that exists in this post-apocalyptic galaxy they have a chance of course.

It sounds like something I might enjoy. Season 4 is currently airing, so in a few weeks they should be back to the first season.

The future events that kick off the Kelvin Timeline and that serve as a Prelude to the events of Star Trek Picard are set in the late 24th Century.

The USS Discovery leaped ahead of that time period by over 800 years to the 32nd Century, specifically the year 3187.
